We are working on an exciting project to migrate BusinessDecision to a new platform with new data sources, a new look and feel, and other updates. We will make the changes in two to three stages over the summer months. The first stage is to migrate BusinessDecision to a new platform at Esri. This migration will happen on Friday, 6/27, after 5:00 pm PDT. The change will be transparent to your end users with one exception--thematic maps will not be available in this version. Thematic maps will be restored as soon as the next stage of migration takes place this summer (see details below). We apologize for this temporary interruption in service. The second migration will happen later this summer. With the move to BusinessDecision 3.0, a number of changes will take place. * Thematic maps will be restored and expanded as part of the new application design. * New data sets will be added to BusinessDecision including expanded consumer expenditure data and expanded business and employee data. * The BusinessDecision interface will be updated and refreshed. * We are investigating the feasibility of quarterly data updates. We are excited about the upcoming changes and will provide more details on our migration schedule and data sources over the next few weeks. The Library Network/Friends of Michigan Libraries team up

[image: Inline image 1] Effective July 1, the Friends of Michigan Libraries (FOML) will be moving some of its service functions to The Library Network (TLN) in Novi, thanks to a collaborative arrangement agreed to by the FOML Board, the TLN Director, Jim Pletz, and the TLN Board of Trustees. The service functions performed by TLN include finances, memberships, and workshop registration. The Kettering University Library and its Administrative Assistant, Linda Pierce, will continue to be the central switchboard for responding to questions about FOML and the FOML Trustee Alliance, for general information, and for FOML publications (e.g., the *FOML Friends Manual* and newsletters). The FOML website (www.foml.org) will continue to be the most up-to-date source for those seeking information about the Friends of Michigan Libraries or the Trustee Alliance. Bay County Library System PART TIME REFERENCE This position will work the following hours at Alice and Jack Wirt Public Library and Saturday Group (2) on a 3 week rotation at the Wirt Library. Monday: noon -5 pm Tuesday and Wednesday: 4-8 pm Friday: 9-1 pm Starting Wages: $13.50/hour - Bachelor Degree $17.01/hour - Master Degree Employees can work up to 20 hours per week/999 hours per year. Primary responsibilities include: Ø Assisting patrons with reference and computer questions Ø Performing basic computer skills with accuracy, including using the Internet Ø Assisting on projects and activities Ø Communicating clearly and effectively Ø Working with patrons, co-workers and supervisors in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner that is in the best interest of the library Ø May include maintenance and development of pamphlet and miscellaneous reference files, or other collection development responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree with a minimum of two years experience in a library environment and or a Masters Degree in Library Science with one year experience. Equivalent combination of experience and education may be accepted. MCLS 'soft' launches new website

Good afternoon everyone, After much hard work, MCLS is very pleased to announce the 'soft' launch of our newly redesigned website. For the next two weeks, you can check out the new MCLS website from the link provided on the current website, www.mcls.org. You'll see many improvements! Please keep in mind that it's still a work in progress - you'll see a little construction dust. New features We are excited to offer many new and improved features on the new MCLS website: Redesigned homepage - the homepage has been redesigned to be more intuitive with streamlined navigation and a much improved site search, so you can quickly find the information you need. In addition, with the targeted news feeds on the homepage, you can more easily stay on top of the latest news, special offers, and training classes from MCLS. Product Search - find eResources and products much more easily through searching by product type, library type and/or keyword. Upcoming Training & Events - the Training & Events list is now more intuitive, scannable and easier to use. Logging in to the MCLS website With two websites live at the same time, the old login page will be shared between the two websites. If you login from the new site, you will be taken to the old site login to place your order/renew your subscription/etc. Melba Moose You might notice the absence of Melba Moose from our new site - Melba decided it was time for retirement. She's now spending her days basking in the sunshine at Potter Park Zoo, just a few miles down the street from the MCLS offices in Lansing. (Her retirement name is 'Willow'). Please wish her well in retirement, and stop by Potter Park Zoo to say hello!
