The Clinton-Macomb Public Library is looking to hire multiple new substitute librarians to work at any of our locations (Main Library: Adult Nonfiction, Children's Services, Popular Materials; North Branch Reference, South Branch Reference). This is also a great opportunity for students who are close to completion of their MSI degree and want an opportunity to gain field experience in a thriving public library. Registration for the 2014 Beginning Workshop is now open at http://www.solutionwhere.com/lom/cw/CourseByAlpha.asp. The Library of Michigan's Beginning Workshop is a 3-day event geared for library staff members that have not had the opportunity for formal library coursework. Its aim is to introduce library staff to a variety of topics and offer them practical skills that they can use working in a Michigan public library. Anyone new to the profession or just hired at a library, no matter what their academic credentials, is welcome to attend the event. For those seeking an initial Level 3 or Level 4 certificate from the Library of Michigan attendance at the entire Beginning Workshop is obligatory. I have contacted the first libraries to request the 28 titles I have but I will keep the emails I have received in case our remaining 'loosely' checked out copies are returned. For Immediate Release: June 30, 2014 National Underground Railroad Conference Comes to Detroit The annual National Underground Railroad Conference will take place in Detroit from July 16 to July 20, 2014, bringing together scholars, archivists, community researchers and enthusiasts from across the nation. The Historical Society of Michigan is a co-sponsor of this event, which will take place at the Doubletree-Downtown in Detroit. The theme of this year's conference is "I Resolved Never to Be Conquered": Women and the Underground Railroad and will reveal the larger story of women's participation in the movement as freedom seekers and as operatives. This five-day conference will include pre-conference events, renowned keynote speakers, panel discussions, an exhibit hall, and tours of local museums and historic sites. There will also be an affiliated tour to Canada on Sunday, July 20. Expert to verify political signatures

If anyone has any ideas for me that would be great! I have a patron who is looking for an expert to verify signatures and verify that items are originals and not copies on framed photos and correspondence. Patron has purchased many political posters, buttons, records, and letters to Mr. Kettle, the Chariman of the Republican Party, from Livingston Co. These documents are from Nixon and Reagan to Mr. Kettle. My patron would go anywhere in Michigan. Thank you very much for helping if you can! Have a nice day! I am clueless!
