Thank you for your assistance in our outreach efforts. ************************************************************************************************************* Due to the overwhelming positive response to the message sent to the libraries on August 16th, the Department of Insurance and Financial Services schedule for in-person presentations on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been completely filled through the end of 2013. However, DIFS is offering three dates to connect with your library via Google+ Hangout, which allows interaction with an audience in your facility through an internet connection. All you would need is a laptop, projector, webcam, and a good internet connection. If you are interested in participating in a Google+ Hangout presentation please contact Lisa Ross toll free at (877) 999-6442 or (517) 335-7328; or send email to: RossL5(a)michigan.gov<mailto:RossL5@michigan.gov> ASAP. There is space for five additional sites for each event listed below and they will be filled by the first five libraries to contact DIFS. Rochelle Riley

You're invited to come meet Detroit's own Rochelle Riley as she is awarded the 2013 Bookwoman Award by the Women’s National Book Association. Rochelle Riley has won numerous awards, including the 2013 National Headliner Award and the 2013 Distinguished Leadership in Media award. She is a past winner of the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award and the Neal Shine Award for Media Commitment to Philanthropy. She is a four-time winner of the Michigan Associated Press Editorial Association Award, a two-time winner of a first place Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, and her columns covering the city’s corruption scandal were included in the entry that won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting. The Detroit Chapter of the Women’s National Book Association is honored to bestow the 2013 Bookwoman Award to Rochelle Riley.
