Federal Tax Forms @ the Library - Not!

You may have noticed from your order TFOP Order Form 8635 that the IRS finally sent, they have dropped some very important forms & pubs from the list. Here are the two most egregious (isn't that a great word, sounds so William Buckley when you say it) omissions: - Form 1040 EZ and Instructions 1040 EZ - Publication 17 1040EZ ? Excuse me? Although emails and phone calls from govdoc'ers have gone unreturned the IRS did put a small item on the TFOP web site that they may "possibly offer additional items at the end of November." So we'll have to order what we can while we can and stay tuned for further announcements from the great and wonderful . . . never mind. Debbie Gallagher

November Orion Programs

I wanted to let you know about 2 programs at the Orion Township Library on November 20th and 22nd. I have attached the flyers in case you can post at your library! Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him Thursday, November 20 @ 6:30p Former U.S. Army Captain and New York Times bestselling author Luis Carlos Montalván will discuss his experiences with life after war and how "Tuesday," his loyal service dog, saved him. Montalván, who served 17 years, including multiple combat tours, honorably departed the military as a result of physical and psychological wounds sustained. Copies of their inspirational memoir and their new widely acclaimed children's book will be available for purchase and signing immediately following the presentation. Program funding in part by the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Friends of the Orion Township Public Library. E-Rate Question from Marian

Posting for Marian the Librarian from Lake Neverwuz Library: I overheard a colleague, Mindy Sue. She had a great suggestion for getting started with E-Rate. She said consider hiring a consultant for the first year if you're new to it. You'll learn all the paperwork and figures you'll need for subsequent years and you can watch the consultant navigate the forms and process. Then, you might not need a consultant after year one. Does anyone on here use an E-rate consultant they would recommend? Do I have to have a lot of money up front to try this route? Thanks, Marian

FW: Sending Patrons to Collections

Hi Robert, Thank you for your question. Our process in forwarding patrons on to collections are as follows: The following notices are sent prior to collections: o 2 Days before material is due - Courtesy Notice (email only) o 4 Days late- Overdue Notice o 10 Days late - Overdue Notice o 21 Days late - Billing Notice o 45 Days late - Account is referred to Unique and $10 non-refundable fee § Balance is minimum $35 and material is 45 days overdue § Day 22, 43 & 85 notices sent from Collections after initial 45 day notice § Day 57-70 & 90-112 phone call attempts from collection agency § 150 Days past material due date, patron is credit reported by Unique o A non-negotiable $10 collection fee (this fee cannot be waived) will be added to the account. o A block is also placed on the account and cannot be removed by Circulation Assistants. The block will come off the account 24 to 48 hours after the collection company receives payment full payment of balance due on account. o The collection agency does not report the patron to the credit reporting agencies unless the collection period has exceeded 120 days. o Patrons must pay their fines down to zero in order to have collection agency contact suspended and borrowing privileges restored.
