Program Recommendation
by Autumn Smith 18 Jun '25

18 Jun '25

Greetings, Library Land! We just had a wonderful musical program with Mr. Evan from Music at the Blissful! Evan is based out of Boston but comes to Michigan and Ohio for 4-6 weeks for Summer Reading. Evan provides an engaging, hands-on music program that's fun for all ages. He also does an amazing job of explaining how the elements of the concert contribute to development of motor skills and early literacy. He even kept our most "spirited" young patrons engaged throughout the entire program. Website: https://www.musicattheblissful.com/ He does book up quickly so it's best to reach out to him by early winter to book for Summer Reading! Free Inclusion-Focused Presentation Program Opportunity for Metro Detroit Libraries and Organization
by Jennifer McArdle 18 Jun '25

18 Jun '25

Dear colleagues, I wanted to share an *impactful, no-cost programming opportunity* for libraries and organizations in the Metro Detroit area. Mi Work Matters <https://www.miworkmatters.org/> (not part of Michigan Works) is currently booking their *30-minute Employment Ambassador Presentation* for summer and fall. This powerful, heartfelt session is designed to inspire and shift perspectives around disability inclusion in the workplace. It features stories of resilience, hope, and purpose from individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We recently hosted this program at the Novi Public Library, and it was very well-received. The Livonia Public Library also hosted a session with great feedback. It’s a meaningful way to promote inclusion and community engagement with minimal time or staffing commitment. I've attached a copy of their flyer. There is no cost to host this program, thanks to support from The FS Foundation, the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, and the Hardies Family Trust. If you’re interested in learning more or booking a session, please reach out to Jane Muszynski at Jane.Muszynski(a)miworkmatters.org or (734) 776-7977. In the spirit of full transparency, I recently joined the board of Mi Work Matters. However, I had planned to share this opportunity with fellow libraries prior to that, and I’m simply passing along a great resource that aligns with our shared values of access and inclusion. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions about the program or our experience hosting it. Warmly, Jennifer (Jen) McArdle -- [image: Email Signature.
