Hi all, You're invited to join us for a free adult services programming workshop online using Zoom: *Wednesday, May 14, from 10 AM - 1 PM.* Please register using this link on TLN's website <https://tln.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1942529&group=>. You do not have to be a part of TLN to attend. This informal workshop will NOT be recorded. The focus of this workshop is sharing information to inspire other library staff responsible for programming for adults, along with exploring out-of-the-box programs. Please share any program information with the group using this Google Form <https://forms.gle/NmkbL5hbQhh3fd2t9>. This is completely voluntary; if desired, you may share anonymously via the Form. Publishers & Authors Association (UPPAA) has scheduled author events with winners of the /UP Notable Book List/. The 46th event is with *Sharon Marie Brunner*. She has published five books associated with the history of Native Americans. Brunner is an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie [Michigan] Tribe of Chippewa Indians. The impact of Indian boarding schools has been devastating for generations of Native Americans, and the aftershocks continue to affect their descendants today. Michigan was home to three: in Baraga, Harbor Springs and Mt. Pleasant. The last to close was Holy Childhood School of Jesus, in Harbor Springs. Sharon served as a private consultant for the Department of Health and Human Services as a federal reviewer of tribal Head Start Programs in the U.S. and was a professor for the Bay Mills Community College, a tribal college. As a member of the aforementioned tribe, she served on the Child Welfare Committee for many years. Sharon has spent a good portion of my life either providing service or writing about Native Americans. On May 17th, 2025 she will be presenting a workshop on “Addressing the Needs of Native Americans in Literature.” at the 27th annual Spring Conference of the Upper Peninsula Publishers and Authors Association (UPPAA) at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette, Michigan. Storybook Trail Book Selection Policy?

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone had created a book selection policy for selecting books to use in their Storybook Trail? We've had a couple of issues crop up, including self-published authors being very insistent about our using their books for our trail and, unfortunately, a couple of complaints regarding our choices, which means professional reviews are very important to have on hand for any installation. We are exploring creating an official policy regarding the selection of books for the Trail or adding on some verbiage to our existing policies to address it. I would really appreciate hearing from other libraries about how their Storybook Trail has been addressed in any policies. Thanks in advance for sharing! Cyber Insurance

Good afternoon, I apologize if this has been asked before, but could not find any information on it. My Library is planning to begin using a Square device for credit/debit card payments at the library and it was suggested that we add cyber insurance before using the Square. Does your library have cyber insurance? How much do you get charged on average for cyber insurance annually? Is it worth adding if the Library has a relatively small budget? Also, does your library use Square currently or a different method for credit/debit card payments? Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
