by White, Shannon (MDE) 15 Nov '16

15 Nov '16

Below you can find a RIPL update. I know some Michigan library staff have attended the RIPL conferences in the past. If you are interested in attending one of their new opportunities take a look at their website to find out more. Also, don’t forget you can take advantage of the Library of Michigan Continuing Education Stipends to help fund your attendance. Hello, We’re excited to share what’s next for the Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL). Thanks to the generous support of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), we will be taking RIPL on the road! Our IMLS grant is funding a series of state/regional events around the United States in 2017 and 2018 – the RIPL Regionals. These are scaled-down versions of the national data boot camp, and feature two days of intensive training for 50 participants in the state/surrounding region. Interested in attending the larger, national event? The next one will occur in summer 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. You can find out more information on the RIPL website: https://ripl.lrs.org/. Thank you for your interest in RIPL! Sincerely, The RIPL Leadership Team ------------------------- Shannon White Director of Statewide Library Services Library of Michigan 702 W. Accepting credit/debit cards compiled
by Janelle Martin 15 Nov '16

15 Nov '16

Hello Everyone, I compiled the results from my original email in October asking what service you use to accept credit or debit card payments. I am attaching both my results and the results from Matt Church in April 2015. Also, Holly Hentz from Hamburg Township sent her credit card policy along with her answers, so I thought I would include it also. It looks like Square is getting more and more popular based on the results of both surveys. My library will be comparing Square to another credit card service from a company we already deal with and then decide between the two services. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you very much, Janelle Janelle Martin Head of Fiction Marguerite deAngeli Library Lapeer District Library 921 W. pay phones in your library?
by Jennifer Hassell 15 Nov '16

15 Nov '16

How many libraries out there still have pay phones in their buildings? If you have gotten rid of them what has been the public response? If you still have them do you know how often they are used? Do you pay a monthly usage fee to a phone company? A private maintenance company? Thanks!
