Project Outcome - Measuring Outcome Data Over Time
by Atkin, Evette (MDE) 12 Oct '18

12 Oct '18

Greetings! Is your library using Project Outcome? If so, check out the free webinar: Benchmarking and Longitudinal Studies: How to Measure Outcome Data Over Time. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 | 2:00 PM Outcome measurement is a way for libraries to assess their impact on the people they serve and helps libraries answer the question, "What good did we do?" In some instances, libraries may need to measure outcomes over a longer period of time to demonstrate their impact. This type of measurement could take a variety of forms, but this webinar will be focused on using benchmarking and longitudinal studies to measure outcomes over time. This webinar will also walk through a basic logic model process to determine short, intermediate and long-term outcomes. As a webinar registrant, you will receive follow-up correspondence from PLA specifically related to this webinar (including, but not limited to, instructions for accessing both the live webinar and its archived recording) as well as information about other PLA programs and resources. You may also receive relevant messages from our webinar partner or sponsor (if any). PLA will not sell this webinar's registration list to any other outside parties. If a webinar sponsor chooses to communicate with you by e-mail, they are obligated to provide you with an opportunity to opt-out from future e-mails in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Program Recommendation - An Uncommon Criminal
by Kelly Rembert 12 Oct '18

12 Oct '18

Hi, In digging through your family history have you ever come across a criminal and con artist? This happened to Southfield Mayor and historian Ken Siver and he turned it into his latest book An Uncommon Criminal. His great grandfather was an international con artist during his 70 year crime spree. He pretended to be a doctor, war hero and more. He'll talk about his great grandfather and how he and his family uncovered the true story of Edwin Turner Osbaldeston in an engaging talk and presentation complete with lots of pictures from an era when photography was not the norm. Contact Ken to set up a program at kensonsilver(a)aol.com or 248-569-4286. I've got a chance to see his presentation twice and found it very engaging and thought provoking. Thanks, Kelly Kelly Ireland Rembert Outreach Librarian Southfield Public Library 26300 Evergreen Rd. Southfield, MI 48076 (248) 796-4367 krembert(a)southfieldlibrary.org www.southfieldlibrary.org

Hi Michigan Team, November is National Runaway Prevention Month! WHAT IS NATIONAL RUNAWAY PREVENTION MONTH (NRPM)? National Runaway Prevention Month is the annual awareness and prevention campaign for runaway and homeless youth issues. Every November, participants across the country host activities and events that amplify the experiences of runaway and homeless youth and the role everyone plays in ending youth homelessness. Runaway Prevention Month is spearheaded each year by the National Runaway Safeline (NRS), the federally designated communication system for runaway and homeless youth, with the support of the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB). The goals of NRPM are two-fold: 1. To raise awareness of the runaway and homeless youth crisis and the issues that these young people face 2. To educate the public about solutions and the role they can play in ending youth homelessness 2018 THEME: SHINE A LIGHT This year’s theme is “Shine a Light”. NRPM is not only shining a light on the issues runaway and homeless youth (RHY) face every day, but also shines a light on the resources available to youth in crisis and those experiencing homelessness. Wear green and post your pictures on social media using the hashtag #NRPM2018. Light the Night – November 13, 2018 Youth service agencies, community groups, and individuals across the country host candlelight vigils to “shine a light” on the issues and show solidarity with youth in crisis. Experience working with Cameron Zvara?
by Shannon Powers 11 Oct '18

11 Oct '18

Hello all, We are considering booking magician Cameron Zvara for a unique outdoor event we put on each summer. He would be performing to a large, all-ages crowd. Has anyone had an experience working with Cameron? I've had two people tell me his shows are good, but does he also show up on time and communicate with you readily? He has a pretty strict cancellation policy so we just want to make sure that he is the right fit for our community.
