Hello Library Lovers, The beautiful, waterfront community of Harrison Township has an opening for a part-time Library Associate. Position: Library Associate, part-time, 10-15 hours per week Reports to: Library Director or other staff as assigned Hourly rate: $10.50/hr. Start date and process: Applications accepted through June 11th. Interviews begin the week of June 17th with an anticipated start date as soon as possible. The Harrison Township Public Library is a Class IV library with a service population just under 25,000. Harrison Township is a beautiful waterfront community located on Lake St. Clair with a number of local recreational activities for outdoor enthusiasts. The library was first established as a community-funded entity in 2015 and continues to grow. HTPL is seeking a personable, enthusiastic individual to join us on our journey. Library Associates form the backbone of HTPL’s staff and serve many diverse roles. Duties include but are not limited to: - Provide in-person or over-the-phone service to library patrons, volunteers, and staff - Perform all circulation desk operations - Process library materials - Collect/negotiates monetary charges - Provide readers’ advisory and reference services - Provide computer assistance including but not limited to Microsoft Office, email, online searches, social media, and the library’s print management system - Assist patrons with electronic resources - Accuracy with mathematical computations, such as counting money and making change - Assist with programs as needed - Shelve library materials properly as well as sort and file alphabetically - Other tasks as assigned Minimum qualifications: - High School Diploma - Positive, proactive customer-oriented attitude - Excellent verbal communications skills - Computer proficiency including Windows Operating System, Microsoft Word and Excel, web utilities including email and searching - Flexibility in scheduling including nights and weekends - Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, kneel, and crouch Preferred qualifications: - Customer service experience - Previous library experience Apply: Please see the application details on our website. <https://htlibrary.org/about-the-library/employment/> --- Melissa Goins Library Director *Connect with me on LinkedIn <http://www.linkedin.com/in/melissa-goins-ab5893a5>* Harrison Township Public Library 38255 L'Anse Creuse, Ste. Position: Librarian, part-time, 15 hours per week Reports to: Library Director or other staff as assigned Hourly rate: $19-$21/hr. depending upon experience Start date and process: Applications accepted through June 11th. The Librarian is crucial to HTPL’s program of public service. Hi, Kat. I would suggest either getting a folding, wall-mounted changing table in both men's and women's bathroom (out a family bathroom if you are so lucky to hand one), or a changing pad with a plastic cover for the countertop. You would likely have to make a holder for the pad; but it would keep the pad from moving around during changing. Best of luck! Baby Changing question

Good Morning Kat, Could you put in an actual changing table in the corner of the children's area. At least then it is designated and the germs will be there, not on the regular furniture. Dear Librarians of Michigan: My name is Kendra Greene<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fartandsee…>, and I'm an essayist researching a book about the dangerous things we keep in collections because it would be more dangerous to forget, deny, censure, or destroy them. I've taken a special interest in the 1874 book of arsenical wallpapers Shadows From the Walls of Death: Being Arsenical Wallpapers, Gathered by R. C. Kenzie, Member of State Board of Health. This book of two pages of text and 86 leaves of arsenical wallpapers was made in an edition of 100 and sent to the "leading libraries of the state." I've been able to locate 4 extant copies (at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan State University in Lansing, and the old Department of Public Health copy now at the Michigan History Center) and a pamphlet version of the text (at Harvard's Countway Medical Library).
