Question re: integrated DVD collections

Greetings fellow library folk! Recently we had a feature DVD appear in the wrong collection on our shelf, as it is a French language film and ought to go to our world language DVD section. It was then lamented that the item's circ count was likely to go down, as materials in our world language collection (with the exception of MeL) have a notable lower circ stat. So we started brainstorming on the access services level as to what could be done to draw more attention to these items. The thought came up several times to integrate the world language DVD section with corresponding feature, non-feature, and TV series collections, while retaining the language label (the line of thought here being that patrons are not necessarily searching for materials on account of the language alone). Before presenting this suggested course of action to the collection manager, we wanted to send feelers out as to whether other libraries had already done such an integration: did you see an increase in circ counts for world language materials? Did patrons complain about the integration? Did shelving staff have a difficult time with it? Do you wish you could hit the rhetorical 'undo' button on this? We want to know! To spare folks a long email chain, direct messages are most appreciated - and if anyone is interested, I will collate the responses and share them. Lastly, if this is a topic that has been deliberated upon before, it would be immensely appreciated if someone would be able to forward that chain for our edification. Amazing program idea: Featuring Local Wrestler(s)

Hello library land, This weekend, we held WrestleFest, an expo-style event featuring "Amazing" N8 Mattson (a local wrestler). Nate talked about his 25+ years of experience in the industry and shared some pictures. He brought two championship belts and held a meet-and-greet-style table afterward, where he signed 8X10 photographs and posed for photos with patrons. I added some coloring sheets and a make-your-own wrestling belt craft that I created. As someone who does a decent amount of programs, I can say that this brought new patrons who were fans or interested in learning more. I have two contacts and a couple of pictures to share. HEPA Air Filters Opportunity

To: Michigan Libraries We are reaching out today with an exciting but time sensitive opportunity! The Michigan Department of Health and Human Servies (MDHHS) has extended the Indoor Air Quality program to more organizations. The indoor air quality program began supporting K-12 schools throughout the State Of Michigan and since expanded to many other vulnerable population groups. This program provides portable HEPA filtration systems (air purifiers) and replacement filters for use in your facilities. Our goal is to support cleaner, healthier air in communal spaces across Michigan. Originally, due to grant stipulations we were limited in our ability to offer these units to settings outside of the parameters of the grant. At this time, we are able to extend our reach and offer these units to additional organizations. Each portable air purifier system comes with 10 replacement filter sets all at no-cost to you. Attached is more information regarding the portable unit. Unfortunately, we have a very short window of opportunity to support the shipment of the units and their replacement filters.
