Pay is $22-24 an hour depending on qualifications. *Fraser Public Library* *Job Description* *Job Title: *Adult Reference Librarian – Part-time *Reports To: *Head of Adult Services and Library Director *FLSA Status: *Non-Exempt *Summary: *Responsible for overseeing the reference desk, assisting with various forms of technology, and performing the following duties: *Duties and Responsibilities *include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Assists patrons with reference questions and readers advisory activities, and keeps stats based on reference questions.* 2. Aids patrons with questions, places holds, issues library cards, provides public computer help, helps with faxing, printing, answers phone, solves problems, and assists in Children's Area when unstaffed.* 3. Assists with cataloging of materials, including books, AV materials, and magazines.* 4. Opens and/or closes the library and turns on computers and lights.* 5. Walks around the library and performs closing duties, checks for and reminds patrons of closing time, checks the Children's Area for patrons and ensures that lights are off, checks to make sure bathroom lights are off, and locks the doors.* 6. Performs collection weeding, as needed. 7. Maintains the circulation desk when unstaffed. 8. Maintains neatness of all library areas. 9. Assists with updating the Library’s website and maintaining the Library’s calendar, including room reservations.* 10. Assists with the public printing system maintenance and documents as well as the 3-D printer.* 11. Assists with library social media, creating promotional materials and programs.* 12. Acts as Librarian in Charge as needed, temporarily supervising up to 5 employees present in the building. 13. May help with displays and programs as needed. 14. Must meet the public and serve people of all ages; maintain a pleasant, approachable demeanor. *Qualifications:* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Be familiar with other library software that is frequently used. *Education/Experience:* Master's degree (M.A./M.S.) or equivalent; and equivalent combination of education and experience. *Physical Demands:* The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Good afternoon from Michigan Humanities! As many of you likely know, our National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) funding was cut by DOGE in April. Due to the termination of critical funds, several of our grant opportunities and programs have been paused. Thanks to ongoing private support, the 2025-26 Great Michigan Read program<https://www.michiganhumanities.org/great-michigan-read/>-featuring Curtis Chin's Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant-is set to launch this fall in late October and conclude in late August 2026. Online registration opened last week, and we have a new partner structure that will help us maximize our program resources. There are two ways to be a 2025-26 GMR partner organization: * Lending organizations will receive a book kit at the time of program launch in October. Each kit will come in a GMR tote bag and include copies of Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant, conversation starters, promotional materials, and a partner guide with links to digital resources. The materials will be yours to use and distribute throughout the program period-late October 2025 through late August 2026. During that time frame, kits should largely be available for check-out by other local community partners. We are leaning on our lending partners to help us make the most of the printed books we have access to this year and build community awareness for the program.
