free Zoom program: Role of Detroit's Mayor

This program is obviously more Detroit-specific than most of our programs in partnership with the Detroit League of Women Voters. In the lead up to November's election, learn about the role of mayor in Detroit, to help in evaluating candidates. Eric Lupher, president of Citizens Research Council of Michigan, will present competencies to consider in voting in this year's mayoral election. This had been originally planned as a hybrid program, but we will have to present online only due to a scheduling conflict. Pay is $22-24 an hour depending on qualifications. *Fraser Public Library* *Job Description* *Job Title: *Adult Reference Librarian – Part-time *Reports To: *Head of Adult Services and Library Director *FLSA Status: *Non-Exempt *Summary: *Responsible for overseeing the reference desk, assisting with various forms of technology, and performing the following duties: *Duties and Responsibilities *include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Assists patrons with reference questions and readers advisory activities, and keeps stats based on reference questions.* 2. Aids patrons with questions, places holds, issues library cards, provides public computer help, helps with faxing, printing, answers phone, solves problems, and assists in Children's Area when unstaffed.* 3. Assists with cataloging of materials, including books, AV materials, and magazines.* 4. Opens and/or closes the library and turns on computers and lights.* 5. Walks around the library and performs closing duties, checks for and reminds patrons of closing time, checks the Children's Area for patrons and ensures that lights are off, checks to make sure bathroom lights are off, and locks the doors.* 6. Performs collection weeding, as needed. 7. Maintains the circulation desk when unstaffed. 8. Maintains neatness of all library areas. 9. Assists with updating the Library’s website and maintaining the Library’s calendar, including room reservations.* 10. Assists with the public printing system maintenance and documents as well as the 3-D printer.* 11. Assists with library social media, creating promotional materials and programs.* 12. Acts as Librarian in Charge as needed, temporarily supervising up to 5 employees present in the building. 13. May help with displays and programs as needed. 14. Must meet the public and serve people of all ages; maintain a pleasant, approachable demeanor. *Qualifications:* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
