Time limits on study spaces

If you have time limits on your study or group spaces, do you have any tips for setting expectations of time to leave and/or tips for letting patrons know their time is up and have them leave peacefully. Free Circulation Desks

Trying this again. I posted on this last month, but didn't have full / clear information. Two complete units. Formica is peeling, but that means it could easily be replaced. Tops could use a good scrubbing. Either one could be used as a standalone reception desk. 2025 PPT Reimbursement Millage Data Available

Hello! Public Libraries with millages may be interested to see the PPT (Personal Property Tax Reimbursement) information for 2025. Please see information below from the Department of Treasury. Remember, under, The Local Community Stabilization Act, 2014 PA 86, MCL 123.1341- MCL 123-1362 https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-Act-86-of-2014 , the calculations of the PPT amounts are done by Treasury, but the issuance and disbursement of the funds are done by The Local Community Stabilization Authority (LCSA). Monies sent to PA 164 and other municipal libraries (Non-District libraries) are often sent to the municipality along with the amounts intended for the municipality and other municipal entities (such as fire or police). However, the payment information sent to municipalities indicates the funds intended for each millage holder. District libraries are sent their payments directly. Libraries with questions should contact Treasury (for calculation questions) or the LSCA (for questions about the actual payment). Hello library world, Has anyone hosted someone recently who gives an excellent presentation on pressed flowers, including a demonstration on how to press flowers, and best practices? If you have, could you send me their contact information? I have many patrons interested in this type of class for next spring. Also - does anyone know someone who teaches embroidery for adults? This was also something we recently had a request for - it would need to be someone who could teach a class of 24, so just a simple basics class. MNB speaker recommendation: Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.

Greetings, Libraryland! Last week we hosted Michigan Notable Book author Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr. who won the Notable award for his book "Citizen Printer." Amos started out giving a history of printing and then explained his thoughts on art and his process of creating printed posters and postcards. He cheerfully violates the rules of printing and is delighted to be an instructor in the “School of Bad Printing.” His talk was peppered with his wisdom, his observations of life, of what makes life worth living. It was a very authentic and organic presentation. He is the epitome of someone who has chosen to follow their passion, who has realized the true joys of life, who is inspired more by making people happy with his works, than making loads of money. Amos held everyone’s attention throughout his hour and 20 minutes of speaking and answering questions. He was engaging, honest, generous (he gave a library-related postcard print to everyone who attended), attentive to the audience (people asked lots of questions), and so funny! Many of the posters and postcards he makes have messages about books and libraries, and he spoke about the value of libraries and how libraries are like the village commons of yesteryear…a place for everyone. A place where everyone can just show up and read or use the Internet. Very few institutions have that generosity intrinsic in their purpose, he said. Amos is the best ambassador of libraries I’ve ever encountered. I wish every public library in the state could host him as a speaker…he’d be excellent to speak before our representatives on the value of libraries. I highly recommend him as a speaker. I don't know what he charges (his appearance was free to us through the MNB program), but he's worth every penny.
