Under the administration of the Library Director, the Information Services Department Head is responsible for all aspects of the operations for the Information Services Department, including direct management of the Librarian Managers, Collections Specialist, and Administrative Assistant as well as oversight of program implementation, collections, and services offered to the public. The Information Services Department Head works with the Library Director and demonstrates effective collaboration with other Department Heads as part of the management team to plan the library's development as a whole and within the department. This position is classified as a salaried full-time position and is exempt from overtime. The nature of the work requires evening and weekend hours. Program Recommendation: Andrew Kercher, Huron Lightship

Hello there, Last night our library hosted Andrew Kercher, an historian with the Port Huron Museums, for a presentation on the lightships, their role in the Great Lakes maritime history, and the history of the HURON LV-103 specifically. The Huron is a museum ship that is open to the public, and they are also a MAP participant; although admission to the Huron is currently FREE to the public. Andrew was a great and informative speaker, easy to work with, and was well-received by our patrons. He also does presentations on a variety of other topics as well, including: the automotive industry, MI shipwrecks, MI lighthouses, architect Albert Kahn, inventor Thomas Edison, etc. See his website for more info: https://kercher.info/bookings-%26-topics Thanks, David M. Twp. Library Payroll Question

Good morning everyone, Over the weekend, the Township Board for our library (PA 164) requested that they start charging our library to do payroll for our employees. I understand that this is a legal request. However, this has brought up some questions and I would really appreciate the perspective of others in this kind of situation. Do you pay your Township to do your payroll as a Township library? How did you determine a reasonable amount to pay for this service? What class size is your library? Did you choose to pay the Township, switch to a separate contracted company, or hire an employee to handle your payroll? Thank you so much!
