The Manistee County Library is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong leadership, administrative, and organizational skills to be our new Assistant Director. The Manistee County Library is a county-wide system with a main library and five branches. The ideal candidate is optimistic about the future of libraries and is a proven manager who can work collaboratively with the Library Board and Staff. The Assistant Director will be proactive, highly organized and dedicated. This person will report to the Executive Director and will assist with daily operations, HR needs, and the overall management of the Library System. This position is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of Branch Managers, and assumes responsibility for library operations in the absence of the Executive Director. This position requires some evening and weekend hours. Full-time with excellent benefits. Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required. Experience: Three to five years of experience in a public library with demonstrated knowledge of the use of an automated library system and changing technology. We are looking for a Bookmobile Library Assistant. In this role you will provide excellent customer service to our communities and patrons by performing traditional library services, you will also operate the bookmobile and travel to designated stops within the county. JDL facilitates all training associated with driving and will incur any cost associated with obtaining a chauffeur license. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and outgoing person who is passionate about bringing library services out into the community. This is the perfect job for someone who is excited about connecting with people, talking about books and other library materials, and bringing library services to those who need them most. In addition, to thrive in this role you must be welcoming and hospitable and be able to assist with strengthening community connections through outreach and programming. Being a safe driver with a clean driving record is also a must as is the capability to review, communicate and adjust the bookmobile schedule. In conversations with patrons and coworkers the Library Assistant II Bookmobile Operator is expected to be JDL's biggest advocate. If you are a creative, friendly person who wants to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, we hope that you will consider joining our team! Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing<https://impression5.org/> is an interactive space for families to play, create, and challenge their understanding of science. They are launching a partnership with Michigan tech businesses to design and build a teen and tween technology center to support and enrich STEM education programs, including library programming, in mid-Michigan and throughout the state. I have a patron interested in putting together an event to edit Wikipedia articles. He said he participated in such an event a while back in another state.
