Comfortable Library Seating

Hi everyone, I am interested in finding a better and more comfortable seating option for our programming room space. We have several groups like book clubs and crochet clubs, in addition to movie showings where people are seated for extended periods of time. I would really like to provide a more comfortable seating option for them. Do any libraries have comfortable seating that you recommend for a programming space? Preferably seats that can be stacked and stored relatively well as the space is used for all kinds of different events. Thank you for your input! Long Lost Items and Bills on Patrons Accounts

Hello, Long time reader, first time writer. 😁 My library has a lot of long lost item records my ILL/Catalog Specialist would like to clean up but they are part of patron accounts as billed items. Do any of your library's have metrics you use for purging such items (and bills)? Some strategies I've heard include: - Lost items/bill under a certain amount - Lost items/bills of a specific type (youth/juv items or accounts) - Lost items/bills older than a certain time (over # many years) - Leaving the bill but deleting the lost item's record I've also seen some strategies waive the cost completely or work with a separate entity (Friends/Donor) to pay for the bills. Would appreciate any of your insights on this topic. Small and Rural Accessible grant deadline coming up .... You can do it!!!!

Hey all, small and rural libraries I'm talking to you!!!! As an advisor for this historic ALA initiative Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities<https://www.ala.org/tools/librariestransform/libraries-transforming-communi…> grant we are coming close to our deadline. A little secret there are 300 awards available, and at this point we have 33 turned in and 173 drafted, the chances of winning a $10,000 or $20,000 grant is high. In all grants that I have done this is a pretty easy and straight forward grant to write. I highly encourage you to apply. You could purchase new braille books, start a sensory story hour and sensory-friendly items, or install an automatic door!!!! I would love to see Michigan libraries take advantage of this grant. What's good for one library is really good for us all. If you ever need any assistance, the staff at ALA's Public Programs Office is very quick to help and respond to any questions you may have.
