Children's Librarian - Newburgh Chandler Public Library (IN) The Newburgh Chandler Public Library (IN)<https://www.ncplibraries.org/> is looking for a flexible, driven, and caring individual to serve as its next Children's Librarian. Serving nearly 42,000 residents from three locations across Ohio Township, the Newburgh Chandler Public Library enhances lives and empowers the community through access, knowledge, and connections. The Children's Department is critical to providing dynamic programs, essential services, and engaging spaces to the library's youngest patrons and their caregivers. Reporting to the Library Director, the Children's Librarian manages six staff and helps shape the department's goals and offerings. Key initiatives include strengthening community connections through outreach initiatives, promoting library services to underserved populations, and expanding the local and digital resources in the library collection. Newburgh is a thriving and growing suburb of Evansville, Indiana which is located right on the scenic Ohio River. The library also serves the residents of Chandler, just North of Newburgh. Ohio Township has a low cost of living both within the state and nationally. The community also offers great schools, a robust trail system for biking and walking, as well as two universities, and two highly-ranked hospitals in the surrounding area. Warrick County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Indiana and is within a two-to-three-hour drive of many urban areas including St. Louis, Louisville, Indianapolis, and Nashville. Responsibilities: The Children's Librarian manages a staff of four at the library's Bell Road location, with an additional staff member at each branch; collaborates with the library's administrative team to organize special events, develop and implement policies related to children's services, and create a safe and welcoming space for young users; conducts engaging Storytime sessions, interactive programs, and other activities; participates in community outreach programs, such as visits to local schools and daycare centers to promote library services; curates and maintains an exciting collection of children's books that caters to various age groups and interests; and manages the budget for the Children's department. Additional responsibilities are listed in the job description below. Qualifications: A master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited university, some management experience, and the ability to obtain a level LC 4 (library certification 4) or higher per the Indiana State Library's guidelines are required. Experience working in libraries and children's services is preferred. Compensation: The hiring salary range is $40,000 - $45,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications) and an excellent fringe benefits package. It’s time to start thinking about filling out tax returns. If you collected unemployment benefits in 2023, your year-end tax statement is now available online. The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) has posted to every claimant’s Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) account their individual 1099-G, or "Certain Government Payments," tax statement. If you requested a paper statement, it should arrive in the mail by the end of January. The UIA is generating more than 224,000 total tax forms, which you’ll need as you fill out your state and federal tax returns. It’s easy to view your tax statement online. Follow these steps: 1. Log into MiWAM. 2. Click on the "I Want To" heading. 3. Click on the "1099-G" link. 4. Click on the 1099-G letter for the 2023 tax year and save a copy for your records. New customer-focused resources Timely access to the tax forms is one way the UIA is providing exemplary customer service under Director Julia Dale, whose goal is to transform the agency into a national model of fast, fair, and fraud-free service. Correspondence to employers and claimants are being redesigned using a human-centered approach to make letters easier to understand. MiWAM uses 2010 technology to address very different needs of 2020 and beyond. The new system, expected to be fully functional in 2025, will incorporate an updated design with robust anti-fraud measures for efficient claims filing and tax processing. The agency’s Advocacy Program<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDYsInVy…> has also been strengthened with the addition of new advocates, who are having their pay boosted by 30 percent. The Advocacy Program provides free legal advice to workers and employers who appeal UIA determinations. Agency’s sweeping reforms UIA’s aggressive anti-fraud efforts will be bolstered with the award of a $2,609,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDcsInVy…> (USDOL) to hire 30 new limited term employees to pursue bad actors and recover federal and state money stolen from taxpayers. The unemployment insurance examiners and regulation agents will work in UIA’s Fraud and Investigations Division through June 2024. Director Dale recently appointed a Legal Advisor to lead the agency's Legal and Compliance Bureau<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDgsInVy…>, which leverages collaborative anti-fraud practices to pursue bad actors. Working with the state Department of Attorney General, federal prosecutors, and local law enforcement, the UIA puts fraudsters on notice: If you steal money meant for Michigan workers and paid by Michigan businesses, you will be found and prosecuted. Other transformative actions: * Launching the UIA Modernization Workgroup<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMTAsInVy…>, with representatives from labor, the business community and jobless advocates, to advise the agency on significant improvements in how it can better serve Michigan workers and employers. * Scoring 100 percent for the third year in a row from the USDOL, meeting the reasonable assurance of quality benchmark for employer audits in 2022, 2021, and 2020. * Securing a more than $2.3 million equitable access and communications grant from the USDOL Tiger Teams initiative to redesign and simplify how UIA engages with employers and develop a help center for accessing agency services. * Reassigning staff and resources to address the largest categories of claims that are contributing to the agency’s case backlogs. * Revamping the agency’s public website at Michigan.gov/UIA<https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMTEsInVy…> to be more user-friendly and responsive for those accessing services using cell phones or tablets. * Rebuilding the UI Trust Fund to more than $2.3 billion (and growing), from which weekly benefits are paid to workers. * Approving more than 76,000 overpayment waivers (with more to come) of state and federal benefits paid during the global pandemic, waiving more than $555 million. * Halting overpayment collections on claims filed since March 1, 2020, while the agency addresses pending protests and appeals. Register now to secure your spot! On Tuesday, April 16, the Michigan library community will gather at the Capitol in Lansing to meet with legislators and advocate for all Michigan Libraries! Library supporters from all over Michigan will be meeting with their legislators to build relationships while they advocate for library funding and support, and educate lawmakers about library issues. Registration is only $25 and includes an Advocacy Day t-shirt, a boxed lunch, and a custom agenda. MLA will schedule a meeting between you and your legislator(s) or legislative staff. You do not need to be a member of MLA to register to attend Advocacy Day, but you do need to be prepared to meet one-on-one or in a small group with your legislator or their staff. This is the most important part of Advocacy Day. But you don't need prior experience to participate! Training for all advocates will be held via Zoom on Monday, April 1 from 3:00 to 4:30 PM. Does your library have a community compost or do you work with an entity in your area to drop-off/pick up the compost donations? Our community is small, but, as far as I know, no entities in the area have community composting. Fading Labels

Greetings! I am currently using a Dymo Labelwriter 450 for call number labels. They come in a roll. They have been fading terribly fast and I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same issue, and if so, how are you dealing with it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
