Patron photo release for minors

Hello, We have had a few questions about photos on our social media, especially in regards to pictures of children. Ideally, we would have everyone's permission to post their pictures on social media but when we have large programs that often becomes unrealistic. We have release forms, but when we have large programs, keeping track of everyone can be a doozy. We were curious what other libraries do for photo permissions, specifically for children in the library. For clarification, if it's a small group or an individual, we ask them directly. We also have signage saying that their photos may end up on social media unless they tell us otherwise. We will remove a photo upon the patron's request, but we want to get to a point where they don't have to worry about that. MCLS Virtual Dialogue is Two Weeks Away!

There's still time to register for the Midwest Collaborative for Library Service's next free Virtual Dialogue! Join us as we gather over Zoom with library staff from all over Indiana and Michigan in two weeks, on Wednesday, March 15, at 10:30am-noon Eastern (9:30-11am Central). Registration is open now at https://www.mcls.org/training-events/events/virtual-dialogues-2023. Come learn and share together with us as we discuss cultivating a flexible mindset. Our Virtual Dialogues aren't a webinar or workshop, but instead are an opportunity for librarians and library workers at all levels and in all library types to talk about issues impacting their work. During the dialogue, we will spend time sharing thoughts, ideas, and insights with other participants. Because these are conversations and most learning will be done with peers in breakout rooms, sessions will not be recorded; we hope you can join us live.
