Meeting Room Reservations

We moved our meeting room reservation booking online several months ago and it's been working well. However, we have still been calling applicants to make sure that they are not using the meeting rooms for private parties. We do ask people to provide a purpose for use of the room on the application and they also must tick a box that indicates they have read the room policy which forbids the use of rooms for private parties. Does anyone else who is booking reservations online also make calls? If not, have you had issues with people using the rooms for purposes not intended? The phone calls do not seem like a good use of time but before we stopped doing this we wanted to see if any other libraries have had issues with people using meeting rooms for parties. At this point there is still work being done with transferring records that will continue over the weekend before the new system is live. A few things to note as we continue this transition over the next few days: * Library staff are still unable to process online library card applications. Please hold off from submitting any online applications until further notice. * Current library cardholders are still able to access the Library of Michigan's databases<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2…> in the same manner as before. * Once the record transition is completed and everything is tested, we will send out instructions for how cardholders will need to reset their card pin numbers for the new system. To be considered for selection, books must: * Be either about or set in Michigan or the Great Lakes (with a Michigan focus) or written by a Michigan author. * Be of high quality in research and writing, and have strong current interest or wide audience appeal. * Be reflective of Michigan's diverse ethnic, historical, literary, and cultural experience. * Be published in the calendar year prior to the award year (2022). Revised editions and updates of previously published works are not eligible. * Be received early enough for complete review by the committee prior to the last meeting in the first week of December. Collection Development - Directs the collection development team responsible for selection, maintenance, and de-selection of materials. Plans and coordinates the creation of new and special collections. Understands and applies collection development policy across all formats and protects diversity of collections. 3. Acquisitions & Processing - Allocates and administers the expenditure of collection funds. Manages processing team; coordinates inputting, processing, mending, and withdrawal procedures. Prioritizes work and establishes technical services workflows to maximize efficiency and access to materials. Selects and works with library jobbers and vendors. 4. Catalog, ILS & Discovery - Oversees and participates in bibliographic record creation and maintenance of a shared ILS. Sets local cataloging standards to maximize discovery of physical and digital resources. Works closely with Cooperative staff. 5. Electronic Resources - Works cross departmentally to plan and coordinate the selection, acquisition, implementation, and evaluation of public electronic resources. Performs contract negotiation with vendors. 6. Data Management - Collects and utilizes library statistical data for reports and to understand trends and improve services. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. * Occasionally requires lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds * Frequently requires use of office equipment as well as long periods of sitting, standing, or walking as needed * Occasionally requires stooping and crouching * Occasionally requires reaching, including overhead reaching Qualifications: * Master's degree in library science is required * Minimum of five years of experience in a public library as a professional librarian * Management experience is preferred * Experience with III Sierra and Collection HQ is helpful.
