Digitization and Digital Project Planning Grant Opportunities

See some of the opportunities below and note those with fast-approaching deadlines! Humanities Collection and Reference Resources Grant Program - Closing July 19, 2022 The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Preservation and Access is accepting applications for the Humanities Collection and Reference Resources program. Grants support projects to create intellectual access to collections of rare books, manuscript and archival materials, born-digital records, maps, still and moving images, sound recordings, art, and objects of material culture. Awards also support the creation of reference works, online resources, and research tools of major importance to the humanities. Amounts are awarded for Foundations projects up to $50,000, with an additional $10,000 to support interinstitutional planning and pilot activities. Collections Assessment for Preservation Program - Closing July 31, 2022 Funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Collections Assessment for Conservation (CAP) program is designed to help small and mid-sized museums better care for their collections. Projects may preserve and process historical records to convert existing description for online access; create new online Finding Aids to collections; or digitize historical records collections and make them freely available online. All types of historical records are eligible, including documents, photographs, born-digital records, and analog audio and moving images. Awards for one or two years are up to $150,000. Lyon Township operates the same way as Auburn Hills - used to use them, discontinued when we went to curbside only at the beginning of COVID-19, now letting current and past copies circulate. Doesn't seem to be affecting wear and tear too much. We here in Franklin have been checking out the current issue for years. People love it. I don't worry much about the wear and tear since we weed them out of the collections every 6 months or a year. The primary functions of this job include: social media management and program support. *Schedule:* Flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours. This position allows for some remote work at the discretion of the Community Engagement Librarian. *Qualifications:* Minimum of Associate’s Degree. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in communications/marketing/public relations/graphic design or other related field preferred. Public library, academic or nonprofit experience preferred. *Compensation:* Hourly rate for this position is $18.25 per hour. This position includes PTO, vacation, sick and paid holiday time.
