Hi all! I normally would look at your various websites for this information, but many are updated with Covid information so I request if you have a moment, and have a meeting room policy (that covers various areas including but not limited to: room rental, reservation, patron conduct, food policy) they could share, it'd be appreciated! Also, does your library have two separate volunteer forms for their Friends and the Library, if so, do they ask the same/similar questions? Are there separate volunteer policies established for each? Looking for a book

Patron looking for a book and wondered if anyone knew the title and author. I have done extensive search, but have not come up with the right one. The book is probably several years old. It is about a Russian Scientist who kidnaps, tortures and kills young women (teenagers?). He would shave them and torture them while the other young women were forced to watch. He would drill holes into their head and probe their brain. A detective was on the case. Don't know the name of the detective. Patron stated it was a very gruesome book. He stated it was a very good book you just couldn't put down. He said it was a fiction book. Suspense or horror possibly? That's all the details I have. 2021 TALK STORY GRANT AVAILABLE Applications being accepted for American Indian, Asian, & Pacific Islander programs Are you interested in introducing a program that celebrates American Indian, Asian, or Pacific Islander cultures in your library or community organization? The American Indian Library Association (AILA) and the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) are now accepting applications for the 'Talk Story: Sharing Stories, Sharing Culture' grant. Talk Story<http://talkstorytogether.org/> is a literacy program that caters to American Indian, Asian, and Pacific Islander families, celebrating their stories through books, storytelling, and art. Once again, AILA and APALA have partnered on this grant program to allocate funding to libraries and community organizations to help them implement Talk Story programs. The 2021 Talk Story Grant is funded through the generous support of Toyota California Community Foundation. Two grant winners for each organization will receive $750 to fund a program that meets the criteria of the grant. Planned programs can be in person or virtual. "Cultural sharing is a valued custom in Asian, Pacific Islander, and American Indian cultures," said Amy Breslin, Co-Chair of the Talk Story grant. "This grant allows the opportunity for celebrating our history and traditions and building partnerships in our communities." Past grant winners have included language programs, early childhood literacy, youth identity development, and a variety of arts programming including dance, music, and writing. "There is a lot of room for creativity in this grant," said Angela Thornton, Co-Chair of the Talk Story program. "We want people to explore partnerships in their communities and see what they can create." Applications are due by April 1, 2021. Furniture available

Hello, Generous donation from a family is allowed us to replace our young adult furniture. We have 8 seats and 1 ottoman available. Pictures show it grouped together but it was spread out through the whole library as the furniture was too oversized for the teen corner. The set was purchased in 2004. Seat measurement are 27" H - 27 Deep - 26 wide; ottoman is 36 " w 18 H. My Board is asking $20 per seat and per ottoman. You will need to make arrangement for pickup; we are open to the public. Birdwatching program recommendation

Fellow Programming Librarians, I recently hosted Greg Bodker of Backyard Birds and Beyond for a virtual presentation for the Northville District Library on Birdwatching and Birding. 85 people attended and sent me more written positive comments on that program than I've had for a Zoom program thus far! Greg's enthusiasm for the subject is obvious and his presentation style is entertaining as well as informative. He tailored his talk to feature birds from our geographic area and gave many tips for beginners (or those who have forgotten how much they like observing nature). His beautiful photographs and video brought the topic to life and he capably answered questions from the audience. I highly recommend Greg as a presenter. I've included the description for the program and his contact information below. Wendy Mutch Northville District Library More and more people are enjoying bird feeding while close to home during the Pandemic. In this virtual program, Greg Bodker’s beautiful photography will help you learn more about birds as he demonstrate the joys of birding you can have both in your backyard and in our area. Novice and aspiring birders will especially benefit from the program. Topics include: • Discuss the excitement and enjoyment of birdwatching • Differences between birdwatching and birding • How to attract more birds to your backyard • Backyard birds, types of seed, feeders and their care • How birding beyond the backyard leads to many enriching experiences • Places to go birding in our area • The excitement of a bird chase • Stories from the field while birding Bio Greg Bodker has been a serious birder since 2006, combining his interest in birds, nature, and photography as often as possible. Greg has led birding trips for Michigan Audubon and was on its Board of Directors for three years. Currently, he enjoys delivering birding and nature education presentations to audiences throughout Michigan. He also has presented at San Antonio Audubon. Greg has birded in all of Michigan’s 83 counties and in most of North America. He is excited to report he saw his 625th North American bird species, a Tufted Duck, while birding in Southwest Michigan in 2019. Greg was also named a winner in Michigan Nature Association’s 2018 and 2019 photo contests.
