We have created several databases from our local newspaper going back to 1880. They are Microsoft Access files covering local obituaries, marriages, births and other items. Each database contains up to nine separate columns including the person’s name, spouse, father, mother, newspaper date and so on. We would like to have search forms which could be placed on our website that would allow patrons to search the indexes. Ideally, these search forms would be capable of searching a single column or several of the columns of data at once. In addition, since these projects are ongoing, we would need to update each database periodically. Does anyone have experience with this? How did you create the search form? Did you use a vendor? If your library has something similar that doesn’t use Microsoft Access, what do you use? Thanks. Donation/Gift Policy for non-library items

We've got book and traditional library material donations handled. Do you have a donation/gift policy for other items? We get offers all the time for dolls, collectors items, artwork etc. We have a policy, but it could use a little work... I'm very careful to not accept items unless we can actually display and/or reasonably store the items. Space is extremely limited... Looking for details like: What is collected, who makes the decision about acceptance (do you have a $ threshold for when the decision goes beyond the Director?), in-take/consideration forms, form for donor signing off ownership and understanding of policy, etc. Thanks! Rural landscape photography program

If your community is interested in fine art photography, rural landscapes, abandoned homes, then I would like to highly recommend photographer Jackson Faulkner. We hosted him in October 2018 and had a decent turnout of 14 adults (we tried to get an article in the local newspaper, but it didn’t come to pass). Jackson lives in Washington state but grew up in Michigan and comes home every fall to visit family. He’s planning on the week of October 5-10, 2020 and is willing to book at least six libraries. MAME is currently asking school library supporters to please respond to the *Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Top 10 in 10 Survey* here <https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/top10planreview>. Here is the recommended way to respond: *Please respond to the survey* by adding equitable access to school libraries staffed by certified school librarians in "Other" and then rating it as one of the top 5 priorities. It is important for community members to respond, so please pass on this information to others. If you are a parent, please indicate this on your response. Background information: The new State Superintendent, Dr. Michael Rice, wants to review and update the current Top 10 in 10 plan. In the current Top 10 in 10 Goals and Strategies, item 2.7a is: *a) Ensure that all students have access to libraries and media centers within their school, district, and/or community. Ensure that such resources are appropriately staffed to ensure system integrity. * In the new survey, *providing equitable access to school libraries staffed by certified school librarians* is *not* an option in their list to rate as important; however, there is a place to add suggested priorities in "Other."
