Hello, I just wanted to share some cool things happening at Capital Area District Libraries. CADL in the News Lansing State Journal article about our Student Success Initiative: https://bit.ly/2mdiMsY WLNS TV 6 interview for Library Card Sign up Month: https://bit.ly/2lnL83e Google AdWords Online campaigns that link to CADL's catalog have been created and are currently running. These campaigns will allow owned book titles to appear in Google search results. Campaigns that will include events, reader recommendations, blogs and podcasts will be added first quarter of 2020. All campaigns are funded through a Google grant valued at $120,000. We are working with Koios on this project. Television Shows During the month of October, CADLcast and CADL Tales will premiere on Lansing's CW 5, which is WLNS TV6's sister station. CADLcast will be hosted by executive director Scott Duimstra and feature interviews with author and Biggby Coffee co-CEO Mike McFall, associate director of collection services Thais Rousseau and How-to Halloween event organizer Jerry Jodloski. The television show is an extension of our CADLcast Podcast. CADL Tales will feature children stories told by library staff. The first episode will feature Foster head librarian Jean Bolley, Okemos librarian Tom Shilts and youth services specialist Mari Garza. Other CADL staff members will appear in later episodes. Both shows are 30 mins and will also be shared online. The show will help advance our Raising Readers Initiative and promote branch storytimes. Trenton M. There are about 3,000 rolls in boxes, which is about 3 cabinets full. *Wall Street Journal - November 1969 thru December 2002*. Planning a Palooza: Creating Collaborative Training Opportunities for Library Staff<https://infopeople.org/civicrm/event/info?id=865&reset=1> InfoPeople is offering this free, 1-hour webinar on October 2 at 3:00PM Eastern. In December 2018 library staff in the state of Georgia gathered for their first Adult Programming Palooza. This was an event designed to connect adult programmers around the state in a format where collaboration and shared experience were the focus. In this webinar, the planners and organizers of the palooza will share how this model can be implemented to create a collaborative training experience for library staff. They will describe the foundations of planning a palooza including location and scalability, format and intended outcomes, and how to go about inviting presenters to be part of the training event. Presenters will cover step-by-step how to go about implementing a palooza, gathering supplies and preparing the space. As our roles as librarians diversify, creating training opportunities and learning from one another becomes increasingly important. Often the training and answers we seek as fellow librarians have already been encountered. Instead of waiting for the training to present itself, we can create training that encourages networking, collaboration and communication among library staff who share similar job responsibilities. At the end of this one-hour webinar, participants will: * Have the knowledge and tools to plan and implement their own training palooza. * Understand the need for increased opportunities for training and collaboration. * Learn the foundations of planning a palooza and be able to scale it to fit their needs.
