The Library of Michigan strives to support libraries' efforts to provide quality service and programming to their communities. A major element of excellent service is empowering library staff to learn and implement new skills and best practices. The Librarian Continuing Education program helps by providing financial support for library staff continuing education. Michigan public, academic and school library staff are eligible to apply for continuing education stipends. A little bit of Country

Last week, CADL kicked off Libraries Rock with a little bit of Country. We partnered with WITL radio on a unique promotion that gave two lucky people the opportunity to become "Roadies" during the Taste of Country Concert in Lansing. The winners got to help behind the scenes, as well as meet all the bands including Country Music Star, Brett Eldredge. (Images of winners with Eldredge and crowd size are attached) CADL used the promotion to create awareness of SRP, drive web traffic (entries were taken on our site) and position the library as a source for Country Music. There were over 250 entries and 9,000 people in attendance for the concert on June 9th. We also experienced a double-digit increase in SRP registrations when compared to the same period in 2017. Weddings at your library?

Anyone out there host weddings at their library? Our policy "allows" is, but after a rather horrible experience where we had to cancel on a couple...I am having serious second thoughts whether this is ever a reasonable use of our facility. I'm always very happy to allow couples to use our library for photos, but the ceremony itself has me disenchanted. It's hard enough when you have to cancel a meeting room reservation because of something happening at your facility. To cancel a wedding is tragedy to those involved.
