State Aid Report - error won't allow lock and submission

Hi Kathy! I hope all is well with your family. :) I just attempted to Verify (and lock and submit) my State Aid Report, but the form is stuck on the Area of Square Feet of Outlet field. The number in the field is correct (11,500; it's been the same for forever), but I keep getting a "nullRequired Required: a value is required!" message when I try to Verify the information. "We need input from parents, providers, and partners to make this a successful grant application," said Interim State Superintendent Sheila Alles. "This application includes updating a strategic plan, based on a needs assessment that identifies strategies to improve collaboration, coordination, and the overall quality of programs and services, and we're seeking public input for that." MDE has designed a brief online survey to engage stakeholders for their input. The PDG B-5 Grant Opportunity is a competitive grant program designed to support states in coordinating and aligning early childhood care and education programs, resources, and services that already exist, improving program quality; facilitating better partnerships between programs and improving the transition from early childhood programs into elementary school; increasing program operating and cost efficiencies; expanding parental choices and involvement; and ensuring families are linked to the full range of services they need. The grant will focus on the existing resources in the state and supporting families to engage in their children's education across the age span. The grant will not fund additional preschool "slots" for children. Michigan's application will particularly focus on supports for children ages 0-3 years, which supports Michigan's Top 10 in 10 Goals 1 and 5 to provide every child access to an aligned, high-quality P-20 system from early childhood to post-secondary attainment and ensuring that parents are engaged and supported partners in their child's education. MeL Minute: The New MeL.org Is Here!

This October saw changes across the board at MeL: a new look (even an updated look for MeLCat Classic<https://elibrary.mel.org/>!), the addition of many new databases, and a new focus. Our tagline - Supporting Michigan Libraries - means just that. We're here for you. We want to help you use the MeL resources to assist your patrons locally, rather than being their one-stop shop. If you've never embedded the links to the individual MeL eResources onto your own library websites, we encourage you to do so. It's Alive! ALIVE!!!

Good afternoon, I wanted to reach out and let you know about a program we are holding on Saturday, October 13 at 2 pm at Liberty School at 7265 N Ann Arbor Street in Saline MI. The program is FrankenSlam, a hybrid lecture and slam poetry performance exploring the continued influence of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The classic novel is celebrating its 200th birthday this year, and this program is serving as a tribute to the novel, to Shelley, and the power of poetry. Feel free to share with your patrons, neighboring schools, book groups, and drama groups. Come join us! In 1816 poet Lord Byron challenged his friends to craft a ghost story, setting the stage for teenage Mary Shelley to write Frankenstein , a tale about a scientist consumed with reanimating the dead. Byron’s challenge is reminiscent of poetry slams today , and to honor the bicentennial anniversary of Frankenstein poet Adam Henze has created “FrankenSlam: Where the Poetry is Alive! It’s Alive.” This poetic celebration begins with a hybrid lecture and performance exploring Shelley’s influence on artists ranging from bards to hip hop. After the performance participants are invited to create their own “horrorcore poem” in an interactive writing workshop. Echoing Byron’s ghost story challenge, the session concludes with a FrankenSlam, where all are invited to share their poetic creations at the mic. This will be held at Liberty School auditorium, located at 7265 N. Ann Arbor St. Saline MI.
