I posted the comments below about an applicant that sent their app via paper instead of email. I enjoyed the discussion that many of you took part in. Except the rude personal messages. From two respondents. The thought that a Michigan library employee would send me those kind of snotty remarks (twice!) via his work email is surprising. Several of you urged me to look at the application so I broke down and did so. I opened it, only to find out the person DOES NOT have an MLIS degree either. But have more apps to review, 23 so far. This person does know how to look up addresses. 3. The wastebasket. How would you react? Am I wrong here? Interested in your comments? Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps Now Online

All, The digitization and online placement of the Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps at the Library of Congress is an ongoing project. Michigan maps pre-1900 are now available, per the below Library of Congress announcement. The Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps are a great source of historical data to genealogists, researchers, etc. For that reason you may wish to consider making them available to your patrons, if you have not already done so.
