Join Matthew Linke, Planetarium Director of the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History Planetarium, as he presents a humorous take on the history of space flight and space exploration. Seed Growing/Saving Program with an international speaker

As a kick-off to our newly opened seed lending library, we planned a nice program with a local speaker who is an acknowledged expert at seed saving. He is involved with Gardens Across America and the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. I just learned today that THE world-wide expert in botanical seed saving just happens to be in Michigan and just happens to want to see our speaker at the same time that he is speaking at our library. So now we will have a very special guest speaker for our little library program; one who is used to speaking to hundreds if not thousands of people at conferences world- wide. (no pressure here). If you can join us, or know of anyone who would like to attend, please come to our program this Saturday, March 19th @ 1:00 PM to hear the Botanical Explorer, Joseph Simcox. Library Cards

We are looking at new circulation systems and are considering reissuing library cards to all patrons. Does anyone use driver's license/state ID numbers or the actual driver's license/state ID in place of an actual library card? Any potential problems going this direction? We realize some accommodation will need to be made for children or anyone without a state issued ID. Every Child Ready to Read full day workshops - Deadline to register 3/21

Our Every Child Ready to Read spring workshop registration closes at end of day next Monday, March 21st! We still have space in Kentwood and in Traverse City. Please join us as Sue McCleaf Nespeca provides an all-day training session on the program and using it in your community. The program will include workshops, webinars, newsletters and materials. We are kicking off the program with a full day workshop with Sue Nespeca of Kid Lit Plus Consulting. The workshop will be an introduction to the program content and goals. An agenda will be forthcoming. The workshop will be held in three locations in March. The specific locations are: Tuesday, March 29th - Southfield Public Library - FULL Wednesday, March 30th - Kentwood Branch Library Thursday, March 31st - Traverse City District Library Cost for this workshop is $35 and includes a morning snack and lunch. Each day of the workshop will be 9:30 to 4:00 with registration beginning at 9:00. You can register at www.michigan.gov/libraryce<http://www.michigan.gov/libraryce>. Sue will also do several topical sessions at Rural Libraries Conference in May on Mackinac Island. A second set of advanced workshops will be done in March 2017.
