Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

We would like to plan some commemorative activities for this year's MLK Day on January 16th. Our school are in session, so this could include activities at the schools. We are not an especially ethnically diverse area of Northern Michigan and we feel that it is important for our public library to recognize this special day in a meaningful way. MLA Advocacy Alert: Contact Your Representative AGAIN and Ask Them to Support SB 579 and 619-624

Michigan Library Community, We are asking all library supporters to call or email their state representative AGAIN. Your engagement is critical to our advocacy efforts, supporting library funding and finding relief for libraries from tax capture! The MLA supported seven-bill tax capture package (Senate Bills 579, 619, 620, 621, 622, 623, 624) is awaiting House action. If we want to see library relief from tax capture, we must act now. Please contact your Representative today and ask them to support SB 579 and 619-624, and please continue to share this call to action with your fellow library advocates! Julie [Julie - Signature] Business & Marketing Librarian The Clarkston Independence District Library seeks a creative, enthusiastic librarian to join a positive, team-oriented work environment to interface directly with the local business community and guide the library's marketing strategies. Hours: 40 hours per week, includes some evenings and weekends Salary: $37,000-$48,000 depending on qualifications and experience Benefits: Health, dental, and optical insurance; Disability and life insurance; Vacation, sick and personal days; Retirement plan. Lego Activity Tables

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has a Lego activity table and if there has been any concerns about smaller children and choking. I would like to put one out but another staff member has mentioned that Legos can be a problem for younger kids if not properly supervised. Thoughts and advice welcome.
