Internet Policy question

Subject: Internet Policy question Dear Librarians, We had an incident where a elementary school age child signed onto a computer where an adult had not logged off their facebook page. The child wrote something on the other persons facebook page. The adult cam in later and conplained that his privacy had been compromised. He had forgotten to log off facebook. Unfortunately the child did that again to another patron's facebook page. The child got caught and was told that what was done was against the law. The child was banned from the computers for one week. The child is not permitted to have a facebook page by her parent. Does anyone have a written policy and procedure for situations such as this. Meeting place

On the local "Things for Sale in Hudson, Michigan" facebook group, I ran this: Safe exchange environment FREE Buyers/Sellers: with chilly weather upon us, consider using the Hudson Library as a place to meet. We have tables to view the treasures, we are out of the cold and wind and dampness...kids are entertainable if you have to wait on someone and you are never alone meeting strangers. Just a thought...keep us in mind. This may not be a good idea for all libraries but I am tired of worrying about my daughter meeting strangers in the parking lot at the grocery store with three little kids in the car on rainy nights. Over 80 people have liked this in the last few hours and we are receiving many good comments....so if nothing else...they are aware that there is a library in town. E-Rate Invoice Deadline Extension Requests

All, we have received word that E-Rate Invoice Deadline Extension Requests (IDER) are being denied today due to an error in the code for the legacy system and USAC is working on it now and hope to have it corrected shortly. The submit a question IDER function was giving applicants an error but seems to be back up now, so in the meantime use that. Sonya Schryer Norris Library of Michigan

Book club attendance?

Does anyone have any suggestions for attracting new book club members? We have a club that’s been running for 10 or 12 years, one Tuesday evening a month. We read mostly fiction. We do a classic and usually one non-fiction title a year. We were getting about a dozen people a meeting pretty steadily for a long time, with different members coming and going. But it's been dying a slow death the last couple of years. I’d be grateful for any tips. Thank you. Call for proposals Advances in Library Administration and Organization Project Management in the Library Workplace Publication due 2017 Series Editor: Samantha Hines, Peninsula College Volume Editor: Alice Daugherty, Louisiana State University Libraries Many works have been published on ‘how to do project management’ in librarianship, but there are gaps in coverage of the deeper issues and surrounding processes. For example, what methods have been successfully used, in the library workplace, for assessing efficacy of project management? What are the future trends and implications for library administration and management as formal project management schema become more commonplace in library work? How do these formal schemas demonstrably affect and improve library workplaces? For this forthcoming volume we welcome submissions that consider how project management affects library administration and that address the role of project management in the library workplace. Proposals in the following areas would be of particular interest: • Assessments of project management approaches • History of project management in library administrationand future trends • Integration of project management processes and procedures within libraries • Efficacy of project management tools for library workplaces and projects • Project-related problem solving • Project participants and teambuilding • Project leadership in libraries • Project management education for library workers This will be the second volume of Advances in Library Administration and Organization (ALAO) to publish in 2017.
