Hands-on Science Exhibit Comes to Ypsilanti District Library

YPSILANTI DISTRICT LIBRARY (YDL) HOSTS "DISCOVER TECH: ENGINEERS MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE" TRAVELING EXHIBITION WHAT YDL will host Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference, a national traveling exhibition exploring how technology and engineering contribute to solving national and global problems. Discover Tech covers topics such as the creative and collaborative design process of engineering and how 21st-century technology (both high- and low-tech) contributes to engineering advances. "Cool Things My Library Does" is a BRAND NEW option -* think of it like a strolling poster session show-and-tell with props.* Maybe you have a great way to organize all those storytime puppets and supplies that you think other libraries could implement. Please submit a proposal for “Cool Things My Library Does”, a new networking event at Spring Institute. This quick engaging presentation session will give you an opportunity to showcase your brilliance in a comfortable small group discussion format. Think of it like a strolling poster session show and tell with props. Topic examples might be unique collections, outreach programs, engaging services or distinctive displays. *General Guidelines* ● Presenters are not reimbursed or compensated for session time, mileage, or any other such item. ● Presenters must register for the day(s) they attend Spring Institute if they intend to stay beyond their allotted presentation time. *Program Handouts * ● Handouts may be posted to the MLA website before the conference. Non-Resident fees

Those who charge non-resident fees, would you please what method you use to determine this. Our Township Board is urging us to charge usage fees for the non-residents to use any of our services, even the public computers so I am charged with identifying everyone who walks in the door. Harassment outside of library property

Hi All - Here's a weird question for this Friday afternoon- Does anyone have a policy in place to protect their library from harassment outside of library property? My example is - what if someone is filing multiple complaints against the library - written complaints to the library board, to the Civil Rights Dept. of Michigan, to local legislators, to the police department. Freedom of speech would make a policy like this difficult but multiple attacks from one person against the library outside of library walls to other local officials does feel like harassment towards the library. If you do have such a policy could you share it with me? Or if you have experience with an individual like this and could share with me, could you possibly call me sometime next week? Thanks!
