Formal Typed Board Resolutions

Hello all! I apologize for any crossposting. It was a practice of a former director to have formal typed resolutions ready for the Library Board to fill in the blanks. They are *incredibly* helpful when looking back at the actions of a Board. I'm hoping that some of you might have templates you can share. I'll take any you have, but I'm specifically looking for templates for resolutions related to investment decisions, budget adoptions and/or amendments, and millage levies. Often the millage levy is resolved at the same time as the adoption of a next fiscal year's budget. We run calendar as fiscal, so we have to levy our millage months before we're finalizing a budget. I'm hoping someone out there might have them as separate resolutions. Note: I plan to compile responses for the listservs, so if you have any concerns about your template and/or response being distributed widely, *please* let me know in your email. Thank you all! Volunteers In the Library

I'm in need of some advice, and who better to ask! We are overhauling our volunteer procedures and roles, and I'm wondering how other libraries make use of their adult volunteers. Our volunteers are primarily seeking court ordered community service, with a few long-term Michigan Works folks and library lovers thrown in. We want to make the best use of their time and ours but don't want to simply hand people a cleaning rag -- even though that's something we frequently need! What kinds of work are volunteers handling at your library and do you have any written procedures you'd be willing to share? Please feel free to reply to me off-list, if you'd like. The Library of Michigan is excited to sponsor the 2015 Michigan Broadband Conference on October 20 at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Michigan. 2016 Small and Rural Libraries - Submit a proposal and create the conference logo!

The call for proposals for the 2016 Loleta Fyan Small and Rural Library Conference is open through October 19. Submit your session proposal online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RLC2016 The conference will be held from May 4-6, 2016 at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The conference is a specially crafted to reach the informational needs of small and rural library staff members throughout Michigan. The three-day event features vendors, awards, keynote speakers and an array of sessions geared to libraries serving small and rural communities.
