Hello Lisa, Scott Morey at the Traverse Area District Library is correct, you can get the data you are asking for by going to http://www.michigan.gov/documents/libraryofmichigan/2014_LM_Michigan_Public… . However, there is an easier way to retrieve it. All public library directors have the ability to use their LibPas Annual Report login information to access the custom reporting features in LibPas. I have created a report that limits the results to libraries that fall within the population range you specified. To open this report go to http://mi.countingopinions.com and login. Then click on the ‘Reports’ link in the blue bar at the top of the page. This will take you to the manage reports screen, click on the ‘Report Templates’ tab and you will find the ‘Public Library Staff and Salary Report’ I created as per your request. All of the reports in the Report Templates tab can be viewed and adjusted by any Michigan Public Library. I will continue to add reports to this list as data requests come in. Libraries can also create their own custom reports by using the ‘Reports’ tab and clicking on the add button. Bonuses to employees

Hello everyone, If you provide bonuses to your staff members, what are the parameters: is it based on hours or years worked, or do you give everyone with a positive annual evaluation the same amount, for instance? Does the director receive a bonus with different criteria? BTW, we're a Class I library, with part-time employees and a full-time director (me) if that matters for the answers. So I am falling on your mercy to help me compile a document of like-size and salary libraries to our own as a guide in creating our own scale. I don't have experience with those nifty surveymonkey things, so I'm doing this old school. Also, after I compile the information into a nice, neat package, I am more than happy to share with anyone interested. What I want is class 5 size libraries between 38,000-43,000 in population. DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Communications Manager, the Webmaster creates and maintains the Library's Internet and Intranet and social media sites in order to effectively promote library services, resources, and internal communication. Builds and maintains the Library's Internet and SharePoint Intranet web pages, including incorporation of graphics. Develops strategies and implements innovative web-based services and applications that maximize the value of the KDL Website as a resource to patrons and staff. Manages and maintains blogs, facilitates discussions boards, conducts polls, and generates date to support the Library's data needs for business intelligence. Collaborates with the KDL Communications Department and other KDL teams, such as the Social Media Workgroup, to leverage the use of the KDL Website and social media venues as marketing tools. Serves as the internal subject-matter expert and departmental liaison for internet and intranet functionality. Plans the technology needs related to the websites to support marketing, communications, public relations and library resources as needed, obtaining necessary vendor quotes, collaborating with IT and other departments and stakeholders. Maintains awareness of current computer trends through periodicals, conferences, professional organizations and other relevant sources. Maintains a working knowledge of technology applications, creating proposals and strategies for the implantation of emerging technologies for the benefit of KDL. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The job requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. One to two years of experience in website development, programming, or related field. Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and WordPress. Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and web development tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Familiarity with web accessibility standards, including mobile web and responsive design, information architecture and content strategy for the web. Experience with graphic design and awareness of web graphic principles. Analytical ability and experience in troubleshooting applicable software and ability to provide website editorial activities including gathering and researching information that enhances the value of the website from a user perspective. Ability to use Google Analytics and various web and social media analysis utilities to maintain accurate website, web-resource and social media statistics. Experience with web analytics analysis. Ability to provide individual and group instruction on technical topics. Ability to work under general supervision with latitude in exercising independent judgment and discretion subject to Library policies and procedures and professional practices. Effective time management skills necessary to work on multiple projects. Must be able to meet deadlines and established timetables. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work with a variety of individuals and establish effective working relationships with Library patrons and personnel. Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills, including the ability to answer technical questions in non-technical terms. Visual acuity necessary to accurately read computer screen displays. Manual dexterity to work with small parts such as small screws or work in tight, difficult to reach locations. Physical ability to lift/carry/push/pull computer equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Hearing ability to answer telephone and patron inquiries. Access to reliable transportation. MAP in the Freep! Tell All Your Friends

Tell your enemies, too, as they'll become your friends after you let them know that, beginning May 24, they can get a free pass to a state park/campground/recreation area/historic site. This article has in excess of 2,500 shares on Facebook. Local recruitment by libraries works. How do I know? I had been trying to "recruit", without success, a new museum I felt would be a very important partner for MAP. Last week I got an email from the museum itself, asking if they could join MAP. I knew my efforts had nothing to do with this, as too long had gone by since the last time I had contacted the museum. But I was pretty sure I knew the identity of the local librarian who had reached out to the museum, and told them about the benefits of MAP. I emailed the librarian to ask her if that was the case, and she said yes, she had talked to the museum about MAP.
