The deadline for submitting a poster proposal to the Michigan Library Association's Academic Libraries Conference 2015 was extended to Monday, February 16th. If you have been considering submitting but were running afoul of the deadline, now's your chance to get your proposal in! The original call for posters follows: Michigan Library Association Academic Libraries Conference: May 28-29, 2015 Bay City, Michigan Call for posters: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/12I40TA_VVR39Hrh44f-IqTDHx8QyKBzXzw7mfFzj6y… We're interested in thoughtful proposals on topics in every area of librarianship, from the front lines and from behind the scenes, addressing the range of issues of critical concern to academic libraries. Proposals should include a description of no more than 300 words. Proposals will be evaluated on relevance to academic library profession, originality and creativity, and clarity/applicability of content and outcomes. Talking to non-librarians about the resources available at local libraries and the information professionals available to help find the correct information. - Encouraging business owners to visit their local libraries for access to business resources - Encouraging business support organizations to reach out and develop relationships with their local libraries. Help each other do what we do best, sharing our resources and network of contacts to help support business owners. - Helping each other! Encouraging libraries to partner with each other and local business nonprofits. It’s OK not to own everything and not to know everything. - Providing partner and interested libraries and business support organizations with a monthly conference call. Hi everyone, Between potholes, snow drifts, black ice, and road salt our vehicles have been taking quite a beating over the past few months (and it's not over yet). Some may even need repair or body work or a little maintenance. Maybe we'd like to tackle the job ourselves and need step by step instructions, illustrations, and specifications. Or, we don't feel qualified to handle the tasks ourselves but want to be well-informed when hiring a professional and have an idea of what's involved. Vehicle enthusiasts have long used print versions of Chilton Repair Manuals and fortunately, electronic versions of hundreds of these manuals are available in the MeL<http://mel.org/index.php?P=Home> database Chilton Library<http://galesupport.com/chilton_branding/splashPage.php?loc=lom_accessmich>. Labor estimating, bulletins/recalls, maintenance, and repair are included as are wiring and vacuum diagrams, close-up photographs, and more. Start out by selecting the year, make and model to see what is available for your vehicle. Model years 1940 (select makes) to the present, trucks, SUVs, imports and domestic, are all included. Re: Series titles on spine labels? We only list the number within the series on the spine label, and on the inside pocket/label we put the series title. We do have a bookmark type piece on cardstock with our more popular series that just stays sticking out between the books. Our patrons love it. Sometimes they "steal" it and we have to replace it, but not very often.
