The ISP for MCLS will be performing system maintenance Wednesday, September 3 from 12:01 AM to 5:00 AM. Distribute this information to any libraries or staff potentially affected by this downtime. Here's what's affected: mel.org main MeL. org website with lists of links to databases (The database links themselves will work if libraries have them bookmarked or included on their web pages) MORE list of Michigana resources (The resources themselves are unaffected) the MeL Subject Gateways (The resources linked in those Gateways are unaffected.) Michigan Documentary

Many of us here in Michigan remember the horrific loss when Gary Weinstein's wife and two sons were killed by a drunk driver. Suffering loss and going through grief is a part of the human experience. There’s not one of us who will skate through life without having to cope with losing someone close to us. But sometimes that loss is sudden and horrifying. How can someone possibly climb back out of that pit of grief? That’s the question addressed in a new documentary called “Transforming Loss.” In it, we meet six Michigan families who have managed to triumph, transform, and grow, despite indescribable heartbreak. And they have lessons for each of us. Michigan filmmaker and licensed psychotherapist Judith Burdick, has produced a documentary that is both heart wrenching and hopeful. It's been on local PBS and will soon be on National PBS.
