Please Comment on Proposed Updates to the Student Learning Outcomes at the WSU School of Library & Information Science

The Wayne State University School of Library and Information Science, as a component of its ongoing, systematic, strategic planning process, is currently updating the Student Learning Outcomes. These Student Learning Outcomes are statements of expectation as to students' demonstrable knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes upon completion of the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree. We invite all of the School's stakeholders to comment on any aspect of the proposed Student Learning Outcomes. To capture these comments, we have created a brief survey and encourage anyone with a relationship or interest in the School to respond. The link to the online survey is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/wsuslisslo . The survey will remain open until March 24, 2014 . Library Partners, The Secretary of State's Office along with the Liquor Control Commission and several other organizations are engaged in a current initiative called 21 to Buy, Not Supply to curb underage drinking by educating the 21 and over crowd about penalties and consequences of selling alcohol to minors. Though this is not an objective of the Secretary of State's partnership with libraries, it is a public service and I'm hoping you might be willing to post the attached 8 ½ by 11 inch flyer during the months of March and April when many college-age students are home. Informational Campaign Materials

Hello Everyone, On behalf of a half-dozen or so libraries who will be getting together in a few weeks for an Informational Millage Campaign work session, I am interested in collecting any promotional materials you may have in support of a library campaign. We'd like to have a mini PR showcase to gather and glean best practices for campaign materials. Specifically, I would love to collect any of the following that you may be willing to share: * Direct Mail pieces, * Brochures, flyers or handouts that were made available to the public at your library, * Outreach displays or materials made available about the library campaign during community events, * Social media campaign plans, and * Speakers' Bureau training materials, including staff and board members (talking points etc.). Please forward any documentation you'd be willing to share with us, by sending it to me electronically at hnagel(a)kdl.org. We are just looking for ideas/examples to share. Many of the people in attendance have not participated in an Informational Campaign before. We are hoping to derive at some best practices using the documentation we can collect. Of course, we will respect your original content and give due credit. I would be happy to summarize the results of our work session for michlib-l if there's interest.
