State Librarian's Excellence Award The Library of Michigan Foundation's State Librarian's Excellence Award<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/about/state-librarian> will be awarded to a library of any type (public, academic, school, special, tribal, etc.), including branch libraries, that exemplifies excellence in customer service. One (1) library in the state of Michigan will receive this prestigious award each year. The recipient library will receive a $3,000 cash prize and a trophy for display in its public area. Two Library of Michigan Foundation Citations of Excellence will be presented and the recipient libraries will each receive $1,000 and a small trophy for display. Deadline: Friday, August 16, 2024. There will be no extensions. Submissions will be accepted online only. Evaluation Factors: Include demonstrating that your library provides superior service to its customers and community through library programs and staff interactions with customers and the service community. Nomination Submission Library directors, trustees, library users, administrators, or parent agency representatives may make nominations. *Note: Nominations entered should be for the library, not for the library director. Nominations may be submitted via the online application, linked below. You will need to create a username and password to access and complete the application. The Mid York Library System (MYLS) is a nonprofit organization that promotes and assists all 43 public libraries in Herkimer, Oneida, and Madison counties in New York. This large geographic area covers nearly 3,000 square miles and the organization supports a wide variety of public libraries and library professionals. Mid York Library System operates from a single 30,000 square foot facility in Utica, NY and provides interlibrary loan, delivery services, electronic resources, continuing education, outreach, IT support, cost-savings through shared services such as OverDrive, and maintains a shared physical catalog of over 482,000 materials for its system libraries. Reporting to a 15-member Board of Trustees, the Executive Director will be responsible for oversight of a $2 million budget and 14 system staff, and collaboratively works to support 43 library directors of MYLS' member libraries. Located at the foot of the Adirondack Mountains in the Mohawk Valley, the area offers four seasons of abundant outdoor activities, numerous historical sites and museums, a lively arts and music scene, breweries, and is centrally located in the state with proximity to NYC, Buffalo, Albany, and Canada. Home to the Erie Canal, Fort Stanwix National Park, and the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum, the area provides a rich perspective on the important role it played in America's history. Book of Unknown Origin

Would you be able to send this out on the list? One of our patrons returned this book. It has an RFID tag that brings up the same code that's written on the flyleaf. There are library spine labels but not a single identifying stamp or sticker. I'm curious if anyone recognizes where it might be from. The patron thinks she got it through our library, though I'm not sure how that can be possible. Call for Summer Reading Survey Responses The Collaborative Summer Library Program's (CSLP) annual survey is now open and will close Friday, September 13, 2024. CSLP has created a survey so they can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership!
