The Clinton-Macomb Public Library is looking to hire multiple new substitute librarians to work at any of our locations (Main Library: Adult Nonfiction, Children's Services, Popular Materials; North Branch Reference, South Branch Reference). This is also a great opportunity for students who are close to completion of their MSI degree and want an opportunity to gain field experience in a thriving public library. The Library of Michigan's Beginning Workshop is a 3-day event geared for library staff members that have not had the opportunity for formal library coursework. Its aim is to introduce library staff to a variety of topics and offer them practical skills that they can use working in a Michigan public library. Anyone new to the profession or just hired at a library, no matter what their academic credentials, is welcome to attend the event. For those seeking an initial Level 3 or Level 4 certificate from the Library of Michigan attendance at the entire Beginning Workshop is obligatory. The Library's Board of Trustees seeks an innovative and experienced Director to implement an exciting vision for the library and its many constituencies. MADL serves 119,450 residents in 21 municipalities and townships. Governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees, the 10 library locations provide excellent services and programs with 50 staff (30.13 FTEs) and a $3 million annual budget. Hello, We are extremely excited to announce that Jim Gill, nationally renowned, award winning author and musician is coming to the Veterans Memorial Branch (Mt. Pleasant, MI) of the Chippewa River District Library on September 13th 2014. Jim will be doing an adult workshop for daycare providers, librarians, teachers, parents, grandparents-basically anyone who interacts with young children and wants to understand why we should offer children music play opportunities, as well as a family concert for all ages. The event is free, but we do ask that the morning workshop be for adults only, and that if you are interested, that you would pre-register on the events calendar at www.crdl.org<http://www.crdl.org>, or by calling Barb Sanford at 989-773-3242 ext. 23.
