Hellos Everyone, I am getting ready to interview for an outreach services and publicity coordinator position and would like to revamp our interview questions. If you would send me the questions you use in an interview I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Anna Curtis, Director Eaton Rapids Public Library

Good Morning, I am in the process of researching and obtaining quotes for a computer reservation system for our public consoles. All of the systems I have looked into seem to be within a couple hundred dollars of each other, so I'm wondering what other Michigan libraries are using. What do you like about your specific system, what don't you like, and any other general words of wisdom you may have are all greatly appreciated. Right now I have quotes from iTeam Resources (Re-Quest), Envisionware (PC Reservation) and Librarica (CASSIE). Thank you, Anna Curtis, Director Eaton Rapids Public Library

Good Morning, I am trying to collect information for my Board on the number of libraries that conduct some sort of staff training/in-service day. If you do, are you closed for part, some, or none of a business day? If you do close what types of things do you do with your staff? Thank you, Anna Curtis, Director Eaton Rapids Public Library

Hi Anna, We close for half days or a couple of hours early a couple of times a year for staff meetings/training with regard to new equipment so everyone is on the same page so to speak. Hi Anna-- We close on Columbus Day every year for Staff Day. We've had fire fighters demonstrate how to use a fire extinguisher, our safety officer (who's our amazing facilities manager) do his usual bloodborne pathogens presentation, and people from community mental health talk about services. Much of the time is spent catching up on new policies or procedures. Because we're spread out all over the county, it's a good time for staff to catch up and we do allow time for that. Everyone gives a report on what's going on at each branch, and department heads and administrators report too. This year at lunch we had a tai chi break. Very cool. Last year we did have a "staff day half day" in June because there were major IT things going on and we needed more time than the hour that we allow for staff meetings. Budget is $500 for the day. Lunch and breaks are paid for out of that figure, as well as any fees for presenters. melissa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anna Curtis" <amzichi@hotmail.com> To: michlib-l@mcls.org Sent: Thursday, November 10, 2016 10:33:46 AM Subject: [Michlib-l] Staff Training Days Good Morning, I am trying to collect information for my Board on the number of libraries that conduct some sort of staff training/in-service day.
