Technology Coordinator


The Eaton Rapids Area District Library (ERADL) is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to oversee all aspects of library technology.


Position: Technology Coordinator


Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Library Director, typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as systems administrator for Library computer operations, selecting, installing, and maintaining all computer hardware and software applications
  • Assisting patrons in use of computers and other library technology
  • Developing instructions for using public access hardware and software
  • Website development and maintenance
  • Assessing the technology needs of Library users and staff
  • Overseeing projects relating to technology including researching, soliciting bids, and recommending purchases to the Library Director
  • Coordinating technology training for staff and the public
  • Compile technology statistics as directed
  • Maintain the Library’s computer network and phone system
  • Work with technology consultants and vendors to provide quality technology services for the community
  • Troubleshoot and implement fixes for software/hardware related issues
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Library experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant computer systems, software, and trends in library automation preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of computer networking and best practices
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, Mac OS, iOS, Android OS, and Linux OS
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of the Internet and PC troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated successful customer service experience
  • Accurate attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Michigan Library Privacy laws and requirements for maintaining confidentiality of patron and library records

Hours: Part-time, 24-28 hours per week, including regularly scheduled evenings and weekends. On call when needed in an emergency.


Salary/Benefits: Hourly wage starting at $15.50. Pro-rated paid time off some paid holidays and the ability to buy into the Library’s health, dental and vision insurance plans.

  • Environmental conditions: Exposure to computer screens; irregular work hours
  • Physical conditions: Must be able to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception; walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time; bend; lift and carry objects of moderate weight; operate assigned equipment; and travel on Library business
