Great Michigan Read author Curtis Chin in Detroit and Lake Orion this month

Hello, Michigan library community! There are several opportunities to see Great Michigan Read author Curtis Chin in SE Michigan during the week ahead. Join us for the following events! * As part of a collaboration with Detroit Bookfest, PBS Books, Detroit Public Library, and Michigan Humanities, Curtis will be speaking about his work at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 18. The event features numerous authors, is free, and will take place at the Detroit Public Library's downtown branch at 5201 Woodward Ave. * From 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 18, Curtis will be part of our fundraiser at BasBlue<https://secure.givelively.org/event/michigan-humanities-council/cuisine-conversations>, and will be in conversation with chef Angela Chi. Tickets are still available! * From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, Curtis will be at the Detroit Bookfest at the PBS Books and Michigan Humanities booth. As you know, federal funding cuts have impacted numerous Michigan Humanities grants and programs. The Great Michigan Read is funded in part by private dollars and planning is underway to launch a reimagined 2025-26 program. Registration will be announced later this summer.
