On Thursday, February 11, at 7:00 pm, the Clarke Historical Library will host Dr. Kathryn A. Remlinger, professor in the Department of English at Grand Valley State University. Dr. Remlinger is author of Yooper Talk: Dialect as Identity in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (2017). She will draw on her more than decade-long study of Finnish accents in the UP to discuss both the accents and how people who have them are perceived by others. This presentation is free and open to the public. The event will be broadcast via Central Michigan University's videoconferencing tool, Webex, and it will be recorded to enjoy at a later time.
