On Thursday, February 11, at 7:00 pm, the Clarke Historical Library will host Dr. Kathryn A. Remlinger, professor in the Department of English at Grand Valley State University. Dr. Remlinger is author of Yooper Talk: Dialect as Identity in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (2017). She will draw on her more than decade-long study of Finnish accents in the UP to discuss both the accents and how people who have them are perceived by others.

This presentation is free and open to the public. The event will be broadcast via Central Michigan University’s videoconferencing tool, Webex, and it will be recorded to enjoy at a later time. Registration is required for the event and the shortened link to register is: https://is.gd/6J7oiM

Feel free to share this information far and wide!

And thanks to the Cromaine District Library for hosting Professor Remlinger last fall and posting an announcement to the Michlib-L list. That inspired the Clarke Historical Library to reach out to Professor Remlinger!

Have a great day,
