Award-winning illustrator (& writer) Bryan Collier to be at the Ann Arbor Dist. Library!

Hey! I've just heard that folks close enough to drive into Ann Arbor are in for a real treat!! 3 time Caldecott runner-up and multiple Coretta Scott King winner Bryan Collier is doing a program in Ann Arbor. What an opportunity for you, any of your patrons, who are interested in illustrating (or writing). Here's a bit about him: He won both the <blocked::http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coretta_Scott_King_Award> Coretta Scott King Award, as illustrator, and the Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Award for Uptown (Holt, 2000), the first book he both wrote and illustrated. He has won six King Awards as illustrator and he is a three-time <blocked::http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldecott_Medal> Caldecott Medal runner-up. For his lifetime contribution as a children's illustrator, Collier is the U.S. nominee for the biennial, international <blocked::http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Christian_Andersen_Award> Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2014 Bryan Collier @ the Pittsfield Branch of AADL Sunday, January 19th at 2:00 p.m. Please pass the word along! I've just heard from Dave at Southfield Lib. that Bryan Collier will be there on the 21st after he does his Ann Arbor gig on the 19th. This reminded me that I should let all of you know that if you'd like me to post notices of author visits on the Michigan Soc. of Children's Book Writers & Illustrator's listserv, I will. We have over 500 active children's book writers or illustrators in the state and they will often drive MANY miles to attend a program given by an author. (Esp. another well-known children's author or illustrator.) Some of these writers are teachers, as well, and will spread the word to their schools. I do try to do this, anyway, when I see news that someone special is appearing. But please do not hesitate to contact me if you'd like a extra special push. I can tweet and post on my FB to my followers. Cheers, all! Shutta Shutta Crum <http://www.shutta.com/> http://www.shutta.com Dozens of Cousins. Clarion, 2013. Mine! Alfred A. Knopf, 2011.
