April2 25, 2025, 10:30am-12:00pm - What Public Libraries need to know about the 2025 Youth Employment Standards Act (YESA) Amendments The Youth Employment Standards Act (YESA) affects the hiring of employees under the age of 18. The new amendments affect how work permits are to be issued, as well as the hours an employee (or volunteer) under the age of 16 can work. This session will review the changes and provide information to help libraries comply with the changes. After this session, participants will be able to: * Describe the changes to YESA. * Determine how the changes will affect their library's employment practices and policies. * Discover possible steps to take to ensure compliance. The Library of Michigan is grateful for Mike Blum's and Foster Swift's support in providing this presentation.
