Programming - how much is too much?

Hi all, Do you have a method for figuring out how many programs you are targeting in a certain period of time? We’re having a cheerful(ish) debate on our staff regarding how much programming is too much… and it seems to me that this all falls back on how many staff hours we have to devote to programming. Just wondering if anyone has a good ‘rule of thumb’ with regard to this 😊 Thanks, Andrea ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ [logo-blue -building] Andrea Ingmire Library Director Peter White Public Library (906) 226-4303 (office) (906) 250-0080 (cell) (906) 226-1783 (fax) www.pwpl.info<http://www.pwpl.info/>

We try to program for events (Halloween, Christmas, SRP, March is Reading Month, etc.), to answer community demands,(crafts, science for kids, adult speakers), more-or-less- by categories: Weekly: 1 storytime in-house, and 1 off-site minimum Monthly: 2 take-home craft kits, plus 2 kids craft/activity, plus 2 adult, plus 1- gaming and 1 bookclub. Quarterly: 1 STREAM event (minimum), plus community events tie-ins Yearly: SRP, Banned Book, Library Card, Pride, Juneteenth, etc. Special: Eclipse, Elections, Parades, Farmers Markets, etc. This is never as firm as we'd like it, but.... I will be interested in responses...very interested! What seems manageable as we start each season seems to get blown out of the water when we have requests for things like additional visits to day cares, attending special local events, etc. (Is it the end of August yet? 🙂 ) Lynne ________________________________ From: Michlib-l <michlib-l-bounces@mcls.org> on behalf of Andrea Ingmire via Michlib-l <michlib-l@mcls.org> Sent: Monday, July 17, 2023 11:09 AM To: michlib-l@mcls.org <michlib-l@mcls.org> Subject: [Michlib-l] Programming - how much is too much?
