"South of Superior" Author Ellen Airgood to Visit Battle Creek

"South of Superior," by Ellen Airgood, is the 2018 Battle Creek Reads selection sponsored by Willard Library . Airgood will discuss her book, her writing process, and life in the Upper Peninsula at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Kool Family Community Center, 200 W . Michigan Ave. in Battle Creek. "South of Superior" was Airgood’s debut novel and was named a Michigan Notable Book in 2012. The novel tells the story of Madeline Stone who leaves her Chicago life to live in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. As she is drawn into the dramas of the small, tight-knit town, Madeline learns that it’s a place where times are tough and debts run deep, but where friendship, community, and compassion run deeper.
