Reporting to a nine-member Board of Trustees and working with the Advisory Council made up of member libraries, the Director oversees operations, staff, finances, and programs while advancing the Cooperative’s mission of coordinating and providing high-quality, cost-effective services that strengthen member libraries through partnerships and advocacy. *Key Responsibilities* - Manage day-to-day operations, services, and Cooperative programs - Lead strategic planning and implement Board policies and initiatives - Supervise, hire, and develop staff while fostering a positive work environment - Prepare and manage budgets, financial reports, and state aid requirements - Pursue grants and additional funding opportunities - Build and maintain relationships with libraries, government entities, and community partners - Provide consulting, communication, and support to member libraries - Represent the Cooperative at regional and statewide professional organizations - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations *Qualifications* - MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution - Eligibility for a Michigan Librarian’s Permanent Professional Certificate - At least five years of progressive leadership experience, including supervision - Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and organizational management - Experience with library technologies, resource sharing, and partnerships - Ability to travel regularly and occasionally work evenings - Valid Michigan driver’s license required *Why Join Us?* This role offers the opportunity to lead impactful library services across thirteen counties while shaping the future of collaboration, innovation, and access within the Cooperative.
