Typical duties may include, but are not limited to: * Providing direct customer assistance to library patrons by checking library materials in and out, collecting fines, issuing library cards, etc. * Greeting visitors, explaining library services and procedures, and assisting patrons with self-check, printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and use of other library equipment * Answering and directing incoming telephone calls * Processing patron holds and interlibrary loan materials * Handling cash register transactions and deposits with accuracy QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma * Pleasant, service-oriented demeanor * Familiarity with computers * Experience working with diverse populations * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to function in a professional manner, work independently, and use good judgment * Flexible and dependable * Good attention to detail * Enthusiastic, positive team player * Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment * Public library experience preferred HOURS: Part-time, 20 hours per week (including regularly scheduled evenings and weekends). SALARY/BENEFITS: Hourly wage range $12.71 - $16.58. Pro-rated paid time off and paid holidays. Employer paid retirement contribution after one year of service. This position is part of the AFSCME union bargaining unit.
