HERRICK DISTRICT LIBRARY Librarian I – Youth Librarian, North Side Branch - Full Time Starting wage $23.65 per hour Benefits apply Herrick District Library has an opening for a Librarian I specializing in Youth Services at the Herrick North Side Branch location. Qualifications include a master’s degree in Library Science and professional librarian experience or demonstrated ability. Responsibilities: * Designs, promotes, presents and evaluates a variety of programs for children of all ages based on their developmental needs and interest and the goals of the library * Seeks mutually beneficial collaborations with area organizations to serve children * Knows early childhood development theories and applies best early literacy practices * Conducts reference/readers’ advisory interviews and uses broad knowledge of children’s literature to assist reading and program recommendation * Builds relationships and partners with area schools through regular outreach and support * Participates actively with the Herrick Youth Services team in system wide goal setting, priorities and planning services for children and their parents/caregivers * Provides reference and research assistance in various forms – in person, via email, phone, or other technological means to all ages * Offers technology assistance – helps patrons use library technology resources * Models a positive user-centered library experience * Assists in maintaining an inviting and literacy-rich children’s play space and teen space * Assists with social media presence and branding of the library * Positively represents and promotes the interests of the library in the community * Supervises building and branch staff in the absence of the branch manager * Stays informed of best practices, current trends, emerging technologies, and research in librarianship, child development and education * Communicates with excellent demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal skills Hours: Monday 10:30am -- 7:00pm Tuesday – Friday 9:30am – 6:00pm Every 3rd Saturday 9:00am – 2:00pm (off Friday when working a Saturday) Occasional Sunday Please submit cover letter, resume and job application by 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 to: Email to: jobs@herrickdl.org<mailto:jobs@herrickdl.org> Mail to: Herrick District Library Attention: Director 300 South River Avenue Holland, MI 49423 616-355-3723 Mary Cook Assistant Director Herrick District Library 300 S.
