One clever response was to include this picture in a letter to the patron. * Put the damaged, especially if liquid damaged, in a plastic bag and hold from 1 to 6 months. * Have a clause in policy to address hygienic, mold or health hazard, that these items will have their picture taken and disposed of immediately. * Send a letter detailing the damage and the item. This provides proof the patron was contacted. * Most respondents stated their library did not have a formal policy.
