Maybe it’s raining, snowing, or sleeting and that day’s activity must be indoors. Perhaps the gymnasium has been closed because of a local election taking place. Occasionally, individual students may have forgotten gym clothes or sustained an injury. Current Events Standard 4.2 in the high school PE Academic Standards asks students to explore sports as current events and consider moral and ethical conduct in specific, competitive situations. Dance I have not-so-fond memories of holding the sweaty palms of my middle school classmates as we promenaded around the gym, learning about square dancing.
